"Honestly, [Tigerclaw], there's nothing here. Just a little ginger kittypet asleep under a bush. And I don’t think he's anything to worry about!" |
— Lionheart reassuring Tigerclaw in A Fear of Fire |
A Fear of Fire is a short story of Tigerclaw shortly before the events of Into the Wild. He experiences nightmares about fire destroying him, hinting at Firestar's arrival into ThunderClan.[1]
Summary[]
- Tigerclaw experiences a nightmare of being trapped in ThunderClan's camp during a fire, and Runningwind anxiously wakes him up. Tigerclaw scolds Runningwind for roughly waking him up, and the tabby is assigned on a border patrol near the Twolegplace with Lionheart, Ravenpaw, and Graypaw. As they near the Twolegplace, Tigerclaw is shocked to detect heavy smoke and hear fire crackling in the Twolegplace, and a voice in his head warns him of fire destroying him. Tigerclaw warns his Clanmates to run from the fire, but his peers are confused as they don't smell anything. Tigerclaw relents that he knows he smelled fire, but the scent begins to fade away. Lionheart remarks that he only sees a ginger kittypet sleeping near his den and he shouldn't be a problem.
