Chapter description[]

As a large tom hurls himself at Graystripe, Shadowsight believes it is Ashfur, and he wonders why no cat is moving to fight as more shimmering cats arrive. He realizes that the cat attacking Graystripe is orange, and Graystripe calls Firestar's name joyously as the two best friends reunite. More StarClan cats appear, along with Rootspring and Bristlefrost, and the living cats reunite with their ancestors. Violetshine introduces Rootspring to Needletail and informs her about her new family. Silverstream and Feathertail greet Graystripe, while Onestar speaks with Crowfeather about WindClan and Mistystar apologizes to Willowshine. Shadowsight notices the Dark Forest cats, and Rootspring introduces him to them, before Firestar tells Shadowsight about Redtail.

Once the cats have greeted their old friends, Firestar says that they need to develop a plan to deal with Ashfur. Mistystar and Maggottail note that time is running out, as the forest is disappearing. Shadowsight decides to try to use his connection with Ashfur to search him out, asking Rootspring to watch over him. As he settles down and focuses his mind on Ashfur, he is able to hear Ashfur's voice, and he finds himself standing beneath a hill, at the top of which stands a warrior turned away from him. When the warrior looks at him, it turns out to be Shadowsight himself, and Shadowsight is knocked unconscious by an invisible paw.
