"The warrior code isn't about rules. It's about not being selfish. Bristlefrost sacrificed her life—and her place in StarClan—to save the Clans. Some cats get lost in meaningless battles for power, and some are willing to hurt other cats just to get something for themselves. Bristlefrost was never like that. A lot of warriors are never like that. They believe they should defend their Clan, even with their lives. But Bristlefrost didn't just give her life for ThunderClan; she gave it for SkyClan, ShadowClan, WindClan, and RiverClan too. She understood that following the warrior code meant taking care of every cat, not just her own Clanmates." |

Chapter description[]
- Rootspring feels no joy that StarClan's barriers are now broken, noting that he had fought for that and that Bristlefrost had died for it. Graystripe asks if he's permitted to enter StarClan, and Firestar permits the patrol to have a look. The yellow tom has hope that Bristlefrost might be in StarClan, and that he might've just imagined that she had faded away forever. Juniperclaw pads forward, but Firestar rejects him from entering. The black tom protests, and Firestar lets him in as an exception for that one time, and that afterwards, he would have to return to the Dark Forest. Juniperclaw accepts, saying that seeing StarClan would help him feel a little bit better about living in the dark forest. Rootspring glances at Maggottail, Silverhawk, and Sparrowfeather. Firestar asks the three cats if they wanted to have a look at StarClan, to which all three of them decline. Silverhawk apologizes for the loss of Bristlefrost, stating that she was a brave warrior.
- Leafpool guides the patrol to the entrance of StarClan, but Rootspring hesitates. When Violetshine asks what's wrong, the yellow tom frets about Bristlefrost not being in StarClan. Before the black-and-white she-cat can finish consoling him, Juniperclaw calls them, interrupting her.
