"And that underfed tom beside you? Adderkit, yes, from WindClan. You were very young to go to StarClan, weren't you? And named for that snake that... Yes I know you too, Blossomkit!"

Adderkit, a young kit residing in StarClan, wanders away from the grounds alongside Blossomkit, a ShadowClan kit, and Mosskit, a half-ThunderClan, half-RiverClan kit. Lost and disoriented, the trio stumbles upon Rock, who guides them to safety where they can rest their tired legs. As they settle in, Rock tells them tales of influential cats from the Clans. Rock notes Adderkit as being underfed and thin.

Rock reveals that Adderkit was killed by a snake bite, which inspired his name. Tallstar avenged the kit's death by dispatching the snake soon after. Adderkit fearlessly acknowledges ThunderClan's leader, Firestar, as once being a kittypet, although he is shut down by Rock. The old spirit asserts that it does not matter where a young kit is born, and that Firestar was a good leader. He also boldly asserts WindClan's superiority when Rock discusses Crowfeather and Leafpool's relationship.

Adderkit inquires Rock about the difference between loners and rogues, and swiftly defends his Clanmates when Rock mentions Nightcloud's fixation on Crowfeather and her son, Breezepelt. Rock tells Adderkit not to hiss, and that he only tells the truth as he sees it, and not to be offended. Despite his brief time with WindClan before his passing, Adderkit sits up much straighter at the mention of his Clan and is shown to be very proud of them.
