Appleshine is a golden[6]-yellow tabby she-cat.[1]

Appleshine is a WindClan queen under Harestar's leadership in the lake territories. Applekit was born to Heathertail and Breezepelt alongside her sister, Woodkit. She was apprenticed as Applepaw to her older sister, Brindlewing, and after completing her training, she earned her warrior name, Appleshine. She helped the effort to rebuild RiverClan camp after Splashtail's reign and later had a litter with Flutterfoot, consisting of two kits: Rustlekit and Stretchkit.

History[]

In The Broken Code arc[]

Lost Stars[]

Applekit and Woodkit are born to Heathertail and Breezepelt of WindClan. They earn their apprentice names, which their leader Harestar announces at a Gathering. The two she-cats duck their heads in embarrassment, while their parents appear proud of them.

The Silent Thaw[]

Brindlewing, Applepaw's older sister, has been chosen to be her mentor.

The Place of No Stars[]

She is now a warrior named Appleshine.

In the A Starless Clan arc[]

"But it might happen. I'd better go and report. You stay here and guard her. As for you, when Kestrelflight tells you to go away, you'd better do it—right away."

While on a border patrol, Appleshine, Crowfeather, and Hootwhisker discover Sunbeam trespassing on their territory and they take her back to their camp. Appleshine accuses Sunbeam of stealing prey, though her kin Crowfeather rebukes her claims. Later, Appleshine and her sister Woodsong spot Frostpaw near the border. When Frostpaw attempts to inform them about her dream of a tree destroying WindClan's nursery, Appleshine and Woodsong instead mock her. Eventually, Appleshine leaves to fetch Kestrelflight.

Star[]

Appleshine accompanies Frostpaw, Harestar, Crowfeather, Emberfoot, Nightcloud, and Woodsong to ThunderClan territory. Later, Squirrelstar relays to Bayshine and Nightheart that Appleshine had come to her and said that Harestar wants the Clans to help rebuild RiverClan's camp. Nightheart spots Oatclaw and Appleshine on the hillside coming through the heather as they join their patrol. She responds to Sunnypelt's comment on RiverClan's inability to find a leader by reminding them that they lack a connection to StarClan.
Once in camp, Appleshine goes to help rebuild the elders' den with Bayshine and Oatclaw and looks at him with horror as he eats salmon. At the Gathering, Appleshine yells to Squirrelstar that they agreed Clan switching is okay when she announces ThunderClan is no longer accepting outsiders.

Daisy's Kin[]

While on their way to SkyClan, Daisy, Smoky, Mousewhisker, Sorrelstripe, and Alderheart run into Breezepelt and his daughters, Appleshine and Woodsong. As Breezepelt questions them, Alderheart explains they are on their way to SkyClan to find a nursing queen to feed Smoky's newborn kits. Woodsong coos at the tiny kits and wishes she could feed them herself, and Appleshine agrees. The WindClan cats let them pass, though Breezepelt urges them to hurry.

Personality and traits[]

Appleshine is a sharp-tongued and sarcastic she-cat. She often meddles in things that do not concern her, ignoring the fact that it is not in her best interest, and she can be very suspicious.[7] She has a negative attitude toward cats from other Clans, throwing sharp observations their way and even mocking them.[8] Despite this, she usually recognizes the gravity of a situation and is willing to back down when necessary.[7][9] She also places great importance on kits, regardless of which Clan they come from.[3][7]
