- Arc Shadow is born in RiverClan to Riverstar and Finch. He is the second to be born, and Dappled Pelt orders Riverstar to give the tiny tom-kit fierce licks to encourage him to breathe. As the kit squeals, Riverstar notices that the tom resembles his mother. After all three kits are born, the new parents decide on names: Ripple Shine, Dusk Smoke, and Arc Shadow. The black tom is after Arc, Riverstar's old mentor. The rest of RiverClan is eager to meet the new kits. Four days later, Finch asks Willow Stream to watch Arc Shadow and his siblings so she can help Dappled Pelt gather herbs for the upcoming battle.
