Darkness Within

While Spotfur and Bristlefrost are looking for Pancakes, they are chased by a dog. A Twoleg pulls the dog away, and as the two she-cats recover, two kits run up to them. They tell them that Spike is a friendly dog that loves cats, and he probably was just saying hello. The smaller kit says that they live with Spike. Spotfur asks why the dog smells weird, and the larger kit says that their Twolegs wash him. When Bristlefrost asks if a kittypet named Pancakes lives here, the larger kit tells them that he used to, but he is gone now. Bacon, the smaller kit, introduces himself and tells the two cats that Pancakes is their father, and that he is not around anymore.

Bacon asks if they want to play tag, but Spotfur tells him that they are looking for friends. She asks if the kits had seen toms, and Bristlefrost prompts them by saying funny names some of the Sisters' toms had. Bacon exclaims Leaf while Bristlefrost is listing them off, using Stone as an another example. Eggs adds that Leaf stopped and played tag with them. Bacon asks if they really do not want to play tag as it is really fun, but Bristlefrost declines. The kits point out the direction of what Leaf told them was the Sisters' camp, and the Clan cats part ways with the kits.

Later, when Spotfur, Bristlefrost, Needleclaw, and Rootspring are out looking for the loner, Leaf, Needleclaw doubts if Eggs and Bacon even knew where Leaf was heading. She then mutters that the kits were wrong when they come across a Twolegplace, thinking that the Sisters never would have come towards Twolegs. Rootspring defends them, bringing up a point that they may have misunderstood the kits. Needleclaw still is not convinced, yet again muttering that they should never have listened to the kits.
