Chapter description[]
- Blackfoot realizes that the gleam of Tigerstar's and Brokenstar's eyes were the same, ambitious and power-hungry, from his vision. As he recovers from his previous life he received, he tells Bluestar he wants this life. He thinks about poor judgements from his past, and he receives another vision of his past. After he finishes receiving his life, he realizes that the next cat that will give his life is Stonefur, a cat he killed under Tigerstar's order. As the blue-gray tom approaches, he feels the present fading and his past approaching.
- Blackfoot is crouching on the Bonehill, watching the guarded former RiverClan deputy, Stonefur and two apprentices, Featherpaw and Stormpaw. Tigerstar addresses TigerClan from the top of the Bonehill that TigerClan can not tolerate the abomination of half-Clan cats, like Stonefur, Featherpaw, and Stormpaw. Tigerstar goes on speaking about reasons why they can not trust half-Clan cats, but Blackfoot starts feeling uneasy about Stonefur. He thinks about a good warrior Stonefur was, but the white tom dismisses the thought.
- Tigerstar announces that TigerClan must get rid of half-Clan cats, but Stonefur says that no cat questioned his loyalty to RiverClan before, and that he never knew Bluestar was his mother until recently. After hearing Stonefur, Tigerstar orders Stonefur to kill the two apprentices to prove his loyalty to TigerClan, but Stonefur asks Leopardstar that she is his leader, and Leopardstar tells the blue-gray tom to do exactly what Tigerstar ordered. Then, Stonefur denies and Tigerstar orders Darkstripe to kill him. Stonefur and Darkstripe fight, and when Stonefur has Darkstripe pinned down, Tigerstar orders Blackfoot to finish the fight. Blackfoot goes into battle, ready to strike down the blue-gray tom's throat.
