| "The four Clans will be enemies until the end. And yet we all want the same things: prey to hunt, a safe territory to raise our kits, and peace to share dreams with our ancestors. Why must we hate one another over such simple desires?" |

Chapter description[]
- Pinestar welcomes Bluefur to Mothermouth and leads her down into the cave. Once they reach the cavern with the Moonstone, Pinestar announces that he has to share dreams with StarClan and pads over the Moonstone, touching his nose to it and instantly falling asleep. Bluefur, exhausted from the journey, also drifts into sleep. The young warrior dreams that she is caught in a torrent of moving water. She struggles against the current, but she cannot escape from the endless expanse of dark water. Bluefur wakes up terrified and gasping for breath, with Pinestar standing over her. He coaxes her out of the tunnel, and the two settle down again outside of the cave. Bluefur manages to get to sleep again, although she is still frightened by her dream. The young warrior wonders if Goosefeather's prophecy that she will be destroyed by water is true, and she thinks that she might be destined to drown.
- The next day, the two ThunderClan cats return back to their camp. They skirt around WindClan's territory rather than crossing it as they had the previous day. Bluefur asks Pinestar if WindClan will ever stop hating them. He sighs, replying that they will eventually forgive ThunderClan for the attack, but then they will find a different reason to hate them. He expresses disillusionment with the fact that the Clans will always be enemies even though they all share the same wants and needs. Bluefur is stunned by her leader's words and wonders if he really sees Clan life this way.
- When Pinestar and Bluefur reach camp, Bluefur heads to her nest in the warriors' den and notices that someone has added fresh moss and bracken to it. Grateful for this, she sinks down into the nest, but at that moment, Snowfur rushes into the den and begins to ask her sister questions about her trip. Bluefur replies briefly to Snowfur's questions and thanks her for fixing her nest, to which Snowfur explains that Thrushpelt was the one who fixed it. Bluefur is too tired to respond to this and drifts off to sleep, dreaming of rushing black water again.
