Interesting facts

  • Bluestar's first names included Moonstar, Moonstone,[1] and Bluestone.[2] These were changed to keep certain terms special to StarClan.[2][1]
  • Bluestar and Oakheart are mates in StarClan, but the editorial team has not had time to include them.[3]
  • Bluestar has Russian Blue ancestry.[4]
  • Bluestar suffered a form of dementia toward the end of her life, which, along with her illness, lead to her death.[5]

Author statements

Mistakes

  • She has been mistakenly described as dark gray on multiple occasions.[7][8][9] She has also been described as silver-gray.[10]
  • She has been mistakenly depicted as completely blue instead of blue-gray on multiple occasions.[11][12][13]
  • Whitestorm and Bluestar were originally said not to be related.[14] This was later changed in Bluestar's Prophecy. [15]
  • She is mistakenly called "Blusetar".[16]
  • In Bluestar's Prophecy, it is said that Bluestar has lost seven lives.[17] However, she does not lose her seventh life until Into the Wild.[18]
  • In Into the Wild Tigerclaw says Bluestar lost a life when ShadowClan attacks ThunderClan, but she lost the life when the rats attacked her on her way back from the Moonstone.[19]
  • In Bluestar's Prophecy, Bluestar told her Clanmates her kits had been stolen by a fox,[20] but in The Ultimate Guide, it notes that she said a starving badger stole them.[21]
  • Despite not becoming pregnant with Oakheart's kits until after Whitestorm becomes a warrior,[22] Bluefur was seen already expecting during his ceremony in Spottedleaf's Heart.[23]
  • She was mistakenly described with white hair streaking her muzzle.[24]
  • She is shown with green eyes on the reprinted cover of A Dangerous Path.[25]

Continuity

The following information is from sources considered non-canon or retconned.

  • In Secrets of the Clans, a 2007 field guide, Bluefur has given birth to her kits, Mosskit, Stonekit, and Mistykit. As Snowfur watches, Mosskit is too cold and weak, and she dies. When Bluefur tries to nudge her, she doesn't move. Snowfur promises that she would take care of Mosskit for Bluefur. It also is revealed that Bluestar mentored Runningwind.[26] At her first Gathering, Bluepaw stares in awe at the Great Rock and promises she would be the leader of ThunderClan to stand up on there.[27]
