Brindlewing is a mottled brown she-cat.[6]

Brindlewing is a WindClan warrior that has served under Harestar's leadership in the lake territories. She was born to Breezepelt and Heathertail as Brindlekit along with her sister Smokekit. She became an apprentice named Brindlepaw with her mentor being Nightcloud, her grandmother. She earned her warrior name, Brindlewing, alongside her sister Smokehaze. She became an older sister to Appleshine and Woodsong, and also mentored the former.

History[]

In the A Vision of Shadows arc[]

The Apprentice's Quest[]

Brindlekit is a kit of WindClan, her parents being Heathertail and Breezepelt.

Thunder and Shadow[]

Honeypaw: "Wavepaw says that RiverClan kits learn to swim before they become 'paws."
Brindlepaw: "No way! Don't they drown?"
Wavepaw: "RiverClan cats are born to swim."
Brindlepaw: "I hate getting my fur wet."

Brindlepaw, along with Fernpaw, are present at a Gathering. The WindClan apprentices look eagerly at the other Clans' apprentices, Larkpaw, Honeypaw, Leafpaw, Breezepaw, and Nightpaw, although they do not join them. They stick close to their mentors due to the feud between WindClan and the other Clans.
At the next Gathering, Brindlepaw is friendlier, adventuring by herself to talk to Wavepaw and Cypresspaw of RiverClan. Twigpaw of ThunderClan sits close to Brindlepaw and the other apprentices, anxiously awaiting the arrival of ShadowClan. When Wavepaw explains that RiverClan cats are born to swim, Brindlepaw is shocked and wonders how they can do that without drowning. She shivers, saying that she hates getting her fur wet.

Shattered Sky[]

Nightcloud is shown to be her mentor.

Darkest Night[]

Brindlepaw and her denmates, Fernpaw and Smokepaw, are present at a Gathering. Alderheart notes how quiet and shy Brindlepaw is, saying that usually the apprentices are bouncy and wanting to chat with the other apprentices. This time, however, Brindlepaw stays close to her mentor and does not say anything.

River of Fire[]

When lightning starts a fire in RiverClan, Brindlepaw travels with her mentor Nightcloud to go investigate. They meet with a ThunderClan patrol and decide to assist together. At a Gathering, Harestar reports that both Brindlewing and her sister Smokehaze have earned their warrior names. The Clan cats present cheer for their names before Leafstar steps up to speak.

The Silent Thaw[]

Brindlewing is now a mentor to Applepaw.

The Place of No Stars[]

Her apprentice, Applepaw, is a now a warrior named Appleshine.

In the A Starless Clan arc[]

Thunder[]

When Sunbeam is looking around, she notices Brindlewing talking with Violetshine and Myrtlebloom. Sunbeam notes that Brindlewing looks out of breath.

Wind[]

Brindlewing is on a border patrol with Sedgewhisker and Flutterfoot while Sunbeam hides nearby. When Flutterfoot detects something, Brindlewing explains that she cannot smell anything beyond their own markers, and the patrol moves on.

Star[]

Harestar sends Brindlewing, Heathertail, and Songleap to ensure that, after Tigerstar and his warriors are freed, the RiverClan cats guarding them will not be able to inform Splashtail. Afterward, Brindlewing waits with the WindClan patrol to push into RiverClan, and Frostpaw recalls how Brindlewing's patrol had made easy work of Shimmerpelt and Mistpaw when they chased them from the tree bridge. When Songleap says that RiverClan may need their help, Brindlewing agrees with her. Later, Nightheart watches Brindlewing and Songleap ease Frostpaw's body to the ground in RiverClan camp.

Onestar's Confession[]

When Brindlekit's sister, Smokekit, goes missing, Heathertail is curled around Brindlekit, who is distraught. When they later find Smokekit, the gray she-kit tells Kestrelflight that she does not want to stay in the medicine den as she wanted to play a game with Brindlekit where she pretends to be a rogue.
