In The Blazing Star, Crow Muzzle is the only daughter of Dewy Leaf and Moon Shadow's litter of kits. Sun Shadow, one of her brothers, thinks about how he never got to know Crow Muzzle because she had died during her birth, and he does not remember her at all because he had been too young.
