Chapter description[]
- In the nursery, Daisy has a mouse in front of her, but cannot bring herself to eat it as she is haunted with the memory of sitting vigil for her children, Berrynose and Rosepetal. She bluntly tells herself that she can't do anymore for ThunderClan, recapping on how an impostor had found their way inside Bramblestar's body and wreaked havoc within the Clans. The impostor soon caused a battle, as Clans were divided on whether to support the false Bramblestar or the codebreakers. The battle caused Berrynose and Rosepetal to lose their lives.
- Daisy now questions whether she should've went on the wander with Flipclaw, Snaptooth, Flywhisker, Thornclaw, and Graystripe. She brings up the point that Graystripe had been one of the most respected warriors, and elders, in the Clan, so if he left, then she couldn't be doing anything wrong by questioning if she should leave. Mousewhisker enters the nursery, interrupting her thoughts, and tells her that Daisy hadn't done anything except stay in the nursery for a few days, wondering if she would go on a patrol. Daisy hesitantly nods, and exits the nursery. She receives multiple stares from her Clanmates. In camp now, Daisy notices Finchpaw and Flamepaw, and notes to Mousewhisker that the two couldn't be far off from their warrior ceremony. Mousewhisker credits Daisy with raising them.
- A half-moon passes, and Daisy is cleaning her nest. She notes that Bristlefrost and Spotfur had gone to look for the Sisters to help the Clans. Daisy spots Flamepaw and Finchpaw looking for prey, while Squirrelflight is talking to Lionblaze. Abruptly, Mousewhisker rushes in, alerting Squirrelflight that Smoky from the horseplace had come, wanting to talk with Daisy. This surprises Daisy, intriguing her as to what Smoky wanted. After receiving approval from Squirrelflight, Smoky enters camp, and greets Daisy warmly. Daisy asks him why he's here, and by the look on his face, she deciphers that the reason isn't good.
