- Alderheart tells Smoky to eat some prey, as SkyClan is far from there. Smoky gulps down a vole, and picks up his kits. Daisy convinces Smoky to let Mousewhisker help him carry one kit. They move towards the WindClan border on their way to SkyClan territory. Daisy spots Breezepelt at the lead. The ThunderClan queen reminisces on how he used to be very annoying, but had matured recently, though he could still be extremely stubborn. Breezepelt confronts them aggressively and with hostility in his voice, but his gaze softens after Alderheart tells them that they have kits that need milk. The black tom asks if they can help, but Daisy says they can't because they don't have a nursing queen. Appleshine and Woodsong, the two accompanying cats on the patrol, express their sympathy for the tiny kits, wishing that they had milk to feed them with. Breezepelt lets them pass, but stops Daisy, confirming with her that the kits might not survive the journey to SkyClan.
- Daisy proposes to stop at ThunderClan camp. Alderheart agrees, wondering if Jayfeather would approve of using traveling herbs to give the kits energy as they have plenty in their herb stores. Bristlefrost spots the ThunderClan cats entering the camp while sharing prey with Cherryfall, and tells Squirrelflight that Daisy and Mousewhisker had returned. Jayfeather exits the medicine den, with Lionblaze and Squirrelflight padding up to them. The elderly medicine cat criticizes that the kits should be with their mother, noting the horrible condition they are in. Daisy states that they don't have a mother, aware of Smoky's fur bristling, so Jayfeather states that he must examine them, shooing everyone away except Alderheart. Smoky asks who Jayfeather is, so Daisy credits him with being the best medicine cat in all of the Clans, knowing that if Jayfeather can't save the kits, no one can.
- Mousewhisker tells the former mates to rest, as he will make sure that they are aware of any news about the kits. Daisy thanks him, and the two rest. Later, Daisy spots Mousewhisker and Jayfeather talking. Then, the blind tabby tom comes over and informs them, after giving them traveling herbs, that the kits are fit to travel to SkyClan. On their way to SkyClan, the patrol comes across a hawk. The patrol tries to fight off the hawk. Daisy fights the hawk while Mousewhisker and Smoky protect the kits, but then she spots the two toms fighting against the hawk with her. Daisy wonders with dread who is protecting the kits. Then, she looks a little closer at the cats defending her, and spot their large, muscular bodies. Daisy recognizes them as the Sisters, spotting three of them defending her from the hawk.
