Chapter description[]
- Daisy stands there, stunned, as she watches three Sisters drive off a hawk. After doing so, they come over to where Daisy lays, and Snow introduces herself and asks if they are okay. Daisy states her thanks, and Smoky tells the she-cat that the kits are okay as well. Snow expresses that she scents ThunderClan. Daisy tells them that she usually hangs around the nursery and tends to any newborn kits. Alderheart explains that they are on their way to SkyClan as they have a nursing queen. Snow states that Sunshine had recently kitted. Daisy accepts the offer, wondering aloud how long the Sisters are staying by the lake. Snow replies that they will stay for another moon until the Clans' situation with Bramblestar is solved.
- The leader of the Sisters states that while they are there, they will take care of the orphaned kits they had saved. Smoky bristles, telling the she-cat that the kits are his. After a few days, Daisy notes that she is sure of the kits' survival, as Sunshine was feeding them milk. She notes that Alderheart is coming to the camp every two days or so, checking on Smoky and Sunshine's kits. Later, Smoky asks Daisy if the kits are well enough to name them. Daisy replies that Alderheart says that they will be fine, and reassures her former mate that it's okay.
- Smoky names the male kit Coriander after the kits' mother, and the she-kit Daisy, after the cat who saved the kits from a hawk. Daisy is shocked, and bows her head, humbled. Daisy wonders how life would've been like if she hadn't taken her kits to ThunderClan, but Smoky snaps her out of her thoughts, commenting that the kits are wonderful. Daisy agrees, adding that Smoky finally has a family. Smoky's tone darkens, stating that he would have had a family long ago if Daisy hadn't taken his kits away, and is about to mention the fact that two of them probably wouldn't have died if Daisy didn't take them to ThunderClan, but decides not to. Daisy exits the den, feeling dismissed.
