Chapter description[]

Daisy and Smoky are with the Sisters, and they are watching the kits play outside of Sunshine’s den. Almost a moon had passed since they had come to stay with the Sisters. Mousewhisker and Alderheart had already returned to ThunderClan a long time ago. Alderheart gave the vague news to her about ThunderClan, saying that Bramblestar’s imposter has escaped from the Clans, and Squirrelflight was missing, too. Coriander and Little Daisy could consume fresh kill now, and they were strong now thanks to Sunshine. Soon, Snow appears and says that the kits are now strong enough to survive. Daisy realizes that Snow was hinting that Smoky, Coriander, Little Daisy, and she would have to leave the Sisters soon, since the Sisters did not like having guests for long. Daisy wonders where her home is now, and is left unsure.
Later, Daisy decides it is time that Smoky should know about what Snow had told her. Smoky, unsurprised tells Daisy that he had expected this to come, and that they will return to the horseplace, since Twolegs do not have that many cats in the horseplace right now, and they like a few cats to catch mice. Daisy thinks it is risky, after all that he promised to Coriander, but she accepts the fact. Smoky tells Daisy to come with them, and it may not be the same thing as being in a Clan, but they will be a family. Daisy thinks that she has Mousewhisker in ThunderClan, but Bramblestar is gone and Squirrelflight is missing, and they do not know if they will ever be able to contact StarClan again. Then she wonders if it will be so bad to live with Smoky and the kits in the barn.
The next morning, Smoky, the kits, and she said goodbye to the Sisters, and Daisy is escorting them to the horseplace. She thinks again about living in the horseplace, and she thinks that she does not want to leave the kits. After they arrive, Smoky asks her if she wants to stay at the horseplace for a while, until the kits get more experienced and older so that they understand why she has to leave, and do not get upset. She replies that she will stay here for a while. Soon, Smoky goes in front of the Twoleg den, and yowls. A male Twoleg comes out with an annoyed expression, but soons turns into relief. When they showed the kits, the Twolegs were surprised, and welcomed them.
In the next few days, Daisy felt that they were settling as a family. The Twolegs fed them milk and food, and Daisy was uncomfortable eating the Twoleg food because of the warrior code, but soon gets used to it. Watching the kits play, Daisy wonders herself as a permanent part of the family. She tried to imagine all the things she would not be able to do if she decides to stay here, but she realizes that that life wasn’t the life she was having in ThunderClan lately. Then she wonders if she is ready to give up on her clan forever. After a while, she decides that she wants to stay. When she falls asleep, she dreams. She dreams that she is back in ThunderClan. However, no cat can hear her, and she gets confused. She looks at the warrior den, and sees walls of the stone hollow shimmering in the strange light, leaning inwards as if they were going to collapse and bury her. Then, she wakes up and wonders what it means.
