"I am no warrior, but I am a ThunderClan cat. I stay in the nursery rather than hunt and fight because that is what I do best. I care for our young as though they were my own. This is my gift to the Clan, but I do it in my own chosen name."
— Daisy deciding to keep her own name at her warrior ceremony in Dark River, page 87

Daisy is a broad-backed,[3] long-furred, cream she-cat[1] with pale blue eyes,[4] a fluffy tail,[5] and soft fur.[6]

Daisy is a ThunderClan nursery queen under Firestar's, Bramblestar's, the impostor's, Lionblaze's, and Squirrelstar's leaderships in the lake territories. She was a loner who lived in the horseplace alongside her mate, Smoky, and other barnmate, Floss. Fearing that the Nofurs would take away her kits, Berry, Mouse, and Hazel, Daisy sought shelter in ThunderClan, where Firestar offered her and her kits a permanent stay. Though she grew close to Cloudtail, she respected his relationship with Brightheart, and befriended him. After the recent badger attack and Berrykit's tail injury, Daisy doubted her kits' safety in the forest and brought them back to the horseplace; however, she was persuaded to return, as her kits wanted to be warriors.

Daisy settled into Clan life, and she became Spiderleg's mate, having two kits, Rosekit and Toadkit. However, her relationship with Spiderleg didn't last long, and the two broke up after their kits were born. Even after her kits grew up, Daisy remained a permanent queen in the nursery, helping new mothers taking care of their kits, and still offered a lot for the Clan. She participated in the Great Battle, and later began to question her place in ThunderClan after the deaths of almost all her kits and the reign of Ashfur, but found purpose in assisting Smoky and raising Coriander and Little Daisy, realizing that despite her losses, she was still loved and valued in ThunderClan.

The New Prophecy[]

Cloudtail: "We'll help you. You can bring your kits to our camp."
Daisy: "Oh, thank you! You're so kind!"
—Daisy to Cloudtail Twilight, page 137
Daisy is a pregnant loner living at the horseplace, with her mate Smoky and friend Floss. After she gives birth to her three kits, Berry, Mouse, and Hazel, Daisy leaves the horseplace with them, out of fear that the Nofurs will take them. They are discovered on ThunderClan's territory by a patrol, and allowed to stay in the Clan for as long as they please, and her kits are given proper Clan names. During her time in ThunderClan, she grows close with Cloudtail, which causes some disturbance between him and his mate, Brightheart, however, Daisy respects their relationship. After the battle with the badgers and Berrykit's incident with a fox trap, Daisy is shaken. Believing it to be too dangerous, she leaves the Clan, taking her kits back to the horseplace, but Cloudtail and Brambleclaw come and convince her to return to ThunderClan.

Power of Three[]

"Our kits are worried about you, too. It's a wonder they remember you, because you never come to visit them."
―Daisy to Spiderleg Long Shadows, page 234
Daisy stays as a permanent queen in the nursery after her kits are made apprentices, and she and Ferncloud help Squirrelflight take care of Hollykit, Lionkit, and Jaykit, since Squirrelflight's milk did not come. After Ferncloud falls ill to a cough, Daisy takes care of her kits while she recovers, and later she supports Millie in keeping her name. Her kits become warriors and are given the names Berrynose, Mousewhisker, and Hazeltail. She also has another litter of kits with Spiderleg, a son and daughter named Toadkit and Rosekit. She and her kits have a distant relationship with Spiderleg, and Daisy tells him that he's missing out and needs to be a better father for them.

Omen of the Stars[]

"We can fight, too, if we have to. We'll guard Sorreltail and the kits."
―Daisy when WindClan launches an attack The Forgotten Warrior, page 306
Her most recent litter have become warriors named Toadstep and Rosepetal. Daisy helps Poppyfrost when she is expecting Berrynose's kits, and worries after she disappears. Afterwards, she stays beside Poppyfrost while she kits. She continues to help the other queens and their kits, and Daisy fights during the battle against the Dark Forest, persistently defending the nursery with Brightheart and Ferncloud.

A Vision of Shadows[]

Daisy remains in the nursery, assisting with the litters of Blossomfall, Cinderheart, Ivypool, and Tinycloud when the she-cat is heavily expecting. Daisy also befriends Snowbird, who was taking shelter in ThunderClan briefly to escape the Kin. When Dovewing announces that she has defected to ShadowClan and ran off due to strange dreams revolving her unborn kits, Daisy comforts her, citing that she also experienced weird dreams whilst pregnant, and states that if Dovewing could have just told her about it beforehand, she could have told her this.

«It's too easy to forget what she does for our kits in the nursery, he thought. He remembered Ferncloud's words when she gave him one of his nine lives. She had warned him never to underestimate the cats who provided the Clan with its new members, and helped to raise them. And she was right. Daisy deserves as much honor and respect as any warrior.»
—Bramblestar's thoughts about Daisy Bramblestar's Storm, page 64
In Bramblestar's Storm, on their way to a Gathering, Daisy and Bramblestar see Smoky's eyes, however, he disappears when she greets him. Daisy worries about her friends at the horseplace, and she goes to visit with the company of Bramblestar. They discover that Floss had died from greencough and Smoky has replaced her with Coriander, which upsets and angers Daisy. Daisy also gets more resentful as Smoky and Coriander mention everything that has changed at the horseplace. After ThunderClan is forced to evacuate their camp, Daisy helps her Clan while they shelter in the tunnels, often fetching moss for bedding and supervising the kittypets and young cats.

"It's true...I'm feeling a pull to go back to them. I'm a Clan cat, and always will be."
―Daisy to Smoky about returning to ThunderClan Daisy's Kin, chapter 9
In Daisy's Kin, Daisy struggles to find her purpose in ThunderClan after the deaths of Berrynose and Rosepetal, leaving Mousewhisker as her only surviving kit, and that the kits she helped raise in the nursery no longer need her. Smoky arrives in a desperate panic for Daisy's help as Coriander is struggling to give birth to their kits. Daisy convinces Squirrelflight to let her go along with Alderheart, Sorrelstripe, and Mousewhisker. Daisy helps deliver the kits, but Coriander dies and one kit is stillborn. Realizing the kits desperately need a nursing queen in order to survive, Daisy attempts to convince Smoky to take the kits to SkyClan as there is a nursing queen there, but Smoky adamantly refuses to take his kits to the Clans as he'd promised Coriander they would stay with him, and that Daisy took their kits to the Clans only for them to die. After they fail to find a kittypet in the Twolegplace, Smoky relents and allows the Clan cats to take his kits to SkyClan. However, a hawk attacks them and the Sisters save them. Snow, their leader, lets Sunshine nurse the kits, and Smoky, Daisy, and the kits stay at Sisters' camp until the kits are almost fully weaned. Smoky names the kits Coriander and Little Daisy after the two most important she-cats in their life. At the horseplace, Daisy begins to wonder if this is her place helping to take care of the kits, but some of Daisy's Clanmates explain that Spotfur has recently given birth to kits and she needs Daisy's help since her mate, Stemleaf, is dead. After learning this, Daisy decides to leave the horseplace and go back to her Clan, knowing that some cat there needs her.

Personality[]

«It's too easy to forget what she does for our kits in the nursery, he thought. He remembered Ferncloud's words when she gave him one of his nine lives. She had warned him never to underestimate the cats who provided the Clan with its new members, and helped to raise them. And she was right. Daisy deserves as much honor and respect as any warrior.»
—Bramblestar's thoughts about Daisy Bramblestar's Storm, page 64
Daisy is a loving, paranoid, caring, and loyal she-cat. She worries about her kits, especially when badgers attack the ThunderClan camp.[7] She is not afraid to speak her mind, and even if she doesn't work the way the Clans do, like having a Clan name or being a warrior, she is still a loyal cat.[8]

Relationships[]

Smoky[]

"I can see she has moved on."
―Smoky about Daisy and her new litter Sunrise (book), page 52
Daisy is Smoky's former mate. They lived at the Horseplace together, alongside Floss, where the tom fathered both she-cats' litters . Daisy didn't seem to mind Smoky's love for Floss, treating her as a friend. However, when the Nofurs took Floss's litter, she became scared and fled with her kits without Smoky, joining ThunderClan.[9] When Firestar offered Smoky to join his family, he declined, saying the Clan life didn't suit him and he couldn't leave Floss alone.[10] Living apart, Daisy slowly moved on from Smoky and became mates with Spiderleg, surprising and saddening Smoky.[11] When Daisy and Bramblestar visit the horseplace, Smoky calmly explained that Floss had died and their Nofurs had gotten a new farm cat, Coriander. Seeing he'd already become Coriander's mate, Daisy walked away from him, disheartened he'd move on from Floss so quickly.[12]
When Coriander is having trouble giving birth, Smoky immediately asks for Daisy's help and she agrees. She wants to finally give Smoky the chance to be a father.[13] Coriander dies during her kitting, leaving Smoky heartbroken. Daisy suggests the kits should become kittypets in order to survive, but Smoky hates the idea. He doesn't want to go through the same pain as he did with Floss's litter, where he'll never see his kits, even if they're alive. He says he never knew how properly mourn his kits. Stressed, Smoky confesses he resents Daisy for failing to tell him about Berrynose's and Hazeltail's deaths for so long.[14] Later, Daisy manages to convince Smoky to take the kits to SkyClan, but they are intercepted on the way by the Sisters, who offer refuge and milk for Smoky's kits.[15] Then, the pair take the kits to the horseplace, where Daisy's Clanmates come to visit her.[16] Smoky realizes that her Clanmates truly miss her and the two talk about their feelings for one another. They conclude the love they once felt is gone, but they remain friends as Daisy promises to visit Smoky and the kits.[17]

Floss[]

"Replaced Floss? How can any cat replace Floss?"
―Daisy upset about Coriander being Floss' replacement Bramblestar's Storm, page 67
Daisy and Floss were like best friends. They both had kits with Smoky.[18] Floss's litter was taken away from the Nofurs, scaring Daisy and worrying about what would happen to her kits. She then took them to ThunderClan, saddening Floss.[19]

Berrynose, Hazeltail, and Mousewhisker[]

"I've been worried about the kits since the badger attack, but I'm their mother-I'd worry about them wherever they were."
―Daisy about her first litter of kits Sunset, page 207
Daisy loves her first litter of kits. She brought them into ThunderClan to make sure they were safe from the Nofurs.[18] She was devastated and horrified when badgers attacked camp and Berrynose lost half of his tail.[20] However, she slowly accepted that her kits wanted to become warriors and settled into Clan life with them.[8] When Berrynose dies in the battle for ShadowClan, Daisy mourns him silently, touching on the fact that she had outlived four of her five kits.[21]

Cloudtail and Brightheart[]

Coming Soon

Spiderleg[]

"Our kits are worried about you, too. It's a wonder they remember you, because you never come to visit them."
―Daisy getting frustrated with Spiderleg Long Shadows, page 234
At first Spiderleg didn't like Daisy because she was a loner.[18] But when he became a mentor to her son, Mousewhisker, he started to like her.[22] They then became mates and had Toadstep and Rosepetal.[11] However, Spiderleg never played or helped with the kits, frustrating and saddening Daisy.[23]
They then broke up but Spiderleg still loved Daisy.[blog 1]

Rosepetal and Toadstep[]

Daisy loves her second litter of kits.[24] She is often worried about them but is happy and proud when they become warriors.[24] When Rosepetal dies in the battle for ShadowClan, Daisy mourns her silently, touching on the fact that she had outlived four of her five kits.[21]

Daisy and Coriander[]

Once they are born, Daisy cares for their wellbeing, trying to convince Smoky to give them to Twolegs so that they can live.[14] After not being successful, Daisy and the others take the kits to SkyClan camp, but are intercepted by the Sisters who give the kits milk.[25] During the time spent there, Smoky decides to name the kits, and he names the she-kit after Daisy for saving their lives from an eagle attack.[26] They return to the horseplace, but the kits are saddened when Daisy tells them that she has to leave. Daisy leaves them on edge with the news that they would see their brother next time she visited.[17]

Coriander[]

When Daisy first met Coriander, she felt angry that this cat was being Floss's replacement.[12] But after meeting Coriander and trying to help with her kitting, she became more gentle to the she-cat, trying to calm her down.[27] Daisy connected with Coriander during the moments before her death, feeling pity that the she-cat wouldn't get to see her kits grow, and sadness at knowing that she wasn't going to make it.[27] After Coriander died, Daisy mourned with Smoky.[14]. Daisy tried to persuade Smoky to let the Twolegs help the kits, despite Coriander saying that she doesn't want their kits around the Twolegs because she doesn't want them taken away.[28] In the end, Smoky agreed to let the Twolegs help the kits, which made Daisy happy because she knew Coriander would want her kits safe and healthy.[25]

Quotes[]

Firestar: "That's enough. Sheathe your claws. There'll be no fighting here."
Daisy: "Thank you for standing up for us. I couldn't help hearing what you were saying. I didn't intend to join anyone when I left home. I only wanted to save my kits from whatever happened to Floss's litter. If it's a problem having us here, we'll leave as soon as my kits are strong enough to travel."
Cloudtail: "It's not a problem."
—Daisy after she first arrives Twilight, page 142

«Her eyes, fixed on Cloudtail, were huge with sorrow. Understanding struck Brambleclaw like a flash of lightning. She was in love with the white warrior! And she must know that there would never be any cat for him but Brightheart. He let out a purr of sympathy. Perhaps Daisy was right to leave. It must hurt to see Cloudtail every day and know he would never be more than a friend.»
—Brambleclaw's narration Sunset, page 192

"The reason I left...well, it was only partly because of the danger out here. I've been worried about the kits since the badger attack, but I'm their mother-I'd worry about them wherever they were. Mostly it was because I-I don't have any cat in the Clan that I'm close to. Not like you and Cloudtail."
―Daisy to Brightheart Sunset, page 207

"Every kit is different, and every kit deserves to know its father. You're missing out, Spiderleg, and if you're not careful it will be too late, and your kits won't know who you are!"
―Daisy to Spiderleg Long Shadows, page 235

"Come on, then, Sorreltail. Ferncloud and I have made you a really comfortable nest in the nursery."
―Daisy when Sorreltail is ordered to stay in the nursery The Forgotten Warrior, page 119

"We can fight, too, if we have to. We'll guard Sorreltail and the kits."
―Daisy before ThunderClan goes into battle with WindClan The Forgotten Warrior, page 306

Daisy: "What do you think you're doing? If that's how you treat the bedding, you don't deserve to have any."
Snowpaw: "It's all wet and yucky anyway."
Daisy: "You ungrateful little furball! If you're so miserable here, feel free to go back and sleep in your den!"
Snowpaw: "Sorry."
—Daisy in a rare loss of her temper Bramblestar's Storm, page 146

«Daisy, it seemed, had gone to help Smoky with his new kits while Bristlefrost had been away fetching the Sisters. She hoped it was just to help Smoky, and not because Daisy, too, was thinking about leaving ThunderClan for good. With Spotfur's kits coming, Bristlefrost would feel better knowing that the cat who'd help raise generations of ThunderClan kits would still be around.»
