Chapter description[]

Violetpaw breathes the scent of the Clans' territories, noting that Cherrytail and Cloudmist must be exhausted from the journey. Hawkwing points to SkyClan's territory, with Tree commenting that the last time he was there, warriors chased him away. Cherrytail exclaims that she can smell SkyClan scent, while the apprentices argue about changing from living in the gorge to living in the lake. Molewhisker leaves the patrol there, needing to return to his Clan.
As the patrol draw nearer to their territory, Blossomheart wrinkles her muzzle when she smells ShadowClan scent. Wondering why, the patrol check the camp to find ShadowClan apprentices and SkyClan apprentices doing apprentice tasks together. Hawkwing goes to Leafstar, who explains that recently, Rowanstar disbanded ShadowClan, and gave all of ShadowClan's territory to SkyClan in exchange for Leafstar to let them live in her Clan. She loudly states that she will not tolerate disloyalty in SkyClan to the nearby ShadowClan warriors. The SkyClan leader orders Bellaleaf to lead a patrol, but Sandynose cuts her off, asking who Tree was. The yellow tom introduces himself as Tree, while Violetpaw states that Needletail told her that Tree would be essential to the Clans.
Leafstar brings up the point that if Tree were truly important, StarClan would have directly led Violetpaw to him. About to send the tom away, Puddleshine notices that his hind paw has six toes, reciting the prophecy StarClan had given Willowshine. Leafstar allows Tree to stay with SkyClan for the timebeing, hoping that the yellow tom could reveal how he could be helpful to the Clans. Then, the SkyClan leader orders Bellaleaf and Plumwillow to continue taking out the hunting patrols, while Twigpaw and Finpaw observe that while they had building nests all day, they didn't know the apprentice den would need to be so big. Interrupting the chattering apprentices, Leafstar states that the two of them will not need to be in the apprentices' den, recognizing that Twigpaw had learned SkyClan's ways, and Violetpaw has traveled far to bring old Clanmates home. Violetpaw and Twigpaw touch cheeks, with the former noting that they would finally be warriors for the same Clan.
