"All the prophecies StarClan had sent since he had become a medicine cat had told him to do one thing: bring the five Clans together to keep them strong. And now StarClan had gone to extraordinary measures to bring them this message—they must save ShadowClan. But ShadowClan couldn't survive without a savior, and if Rowanclaw wasn't up to the job, who would be?" |

Chapter description[]
- Near the RiverClan border with SkyClan's new territory, Alderheart anxiously waits beside the lake with Jayfeather and Kestrelflight for the other medicine cats to arrive. He reflects upon Leafpool's earlier insistence when she organized the meeting, though Alderheart ponders what this meeting could be about. Reassuringly, Alderheart recalls how Twigpaw and Finpaw had requested to join ThunderClan two days prior, and Alderheart feels confident that his father Bramblestar will eventually approve their request. An owl swoops over the lake, prompting Kestrelflight to question if it was a sign from StarClan, though Jayfeather snaps at him. Leafpool arrives with Puddleshine and two other cats, whom she introduces as SkyClan's medicine cats: Frecklewish and her apprentice, Fidgetpaw. Leafpool promises Jayfeather that she will return to ThunderClan after Frecklewish and Fidgetpaw settle into their new camp.
- Leafpool beckons another cat from the shadows, and a yellow tom emerges, introducing himself as Tree. Jayfeather correctly guesses that he is the six-toed cat mentioned in the prophecy. Leafpool and Frecklewish add that they chose this meeting place because it is connected with Tree's special power. Several ShadowClan cats arrive, with the SkyClan warrior Violetshine following. Violetshine affirms that they are close to the place where Darktail had killed Needletail and the others, with Leafpool clarifying that Tree has the power to reveal dead spirits from their realm. Tree adds that he can only bring cats who have not moved on to the afterlife, such as StarClan, and he suspects they will ascend to StarClan after they complete their unfinished task. As Tree stares over the water, the apparitions of Beenose, Mistcloud, Lioneye, Birchbark, Dawnpelt, and Needletail appear over the lake. The ShadowClan cats joyfully reunite with their lost kin and Clanmates, though they note that some are still missing. Beenose suggests that they must still be alive elsewhere. Alderheart and Violetshine warmly reunite with Needletail's spirit, who promises to always be with them. The ghosts encourage Rowanstar to save ShadowClan by finding the missing warriors, though Rowanstar argues that he's done nothing but fail his Clan. He announces that he's giving up leadership and wishes to be called Rowanclaw now. The ghosts soon vanish, as Tree can only summon them for so long. Alderheart wonders what will be left of ShadowClan without a savior.
