Dream Flow is an elder and one of the leaders of a group of wildcats. She is one of the first cats to introduce herself to Galestar and her three kittens, Pebblekit, Thrushkit, and Fogkit. As other wildcat she-cats take each individual kit and start to groom them, Dream Flow herself opts to take care of Galestar and groom her, much to the shock of Galestar herself. Dream Flow explains that she is also Bound Hunt's mother. While she initially hesitates, she realizes that she is safe with Dream Flow and the wildcats, and Dream Flow assures her that she will be all right if she lets her worries go.

Not long after Galestar's arrival, Dream Flow and the other elders hold a ceremony in which they speak with their ancestors. Lead by the wildcat she-cat, she calls upon their ancestors and wishes for them to watch over the smallcats that now live among them. She explains that while Galestar and her kits are living with them, they will be wildcats, and that each of them must have a guide. She asks the ancestors which of them will step forward to guide the young kits. Roll Flick offers to guide Thrushkit, now named Thrush Roll. Nuzzle Hiss offers to watch over Fogkit, who is now named Fog Nuzzle. Lunge Snap decides that they will be the guide of Pebblekit, now taking the name Pebble Lunge.

As soon as Dream Flow is about to end the ceremony, another wildcat ancestor appears and speaks through Dream Flow herself. This tom introduces himself as Rise Stretch, and offers to be Galestar's guide. He hails her by her new name, Gale Rise, and praises her abilities. Afterwards, the meeting is at an end and all four cats have gained new names and are fully welcomed as members of the wildcats group. Galestar beams with pride for her kits, and thinks to herself that she has never received so much love and care from any group of cats. She feels safe and welcome with Dream Flow and the wildcats.

After their training, Dream Flow leads a ceremony in which Fog Nuzzle, Pebble Lunge, and Thrush Roll are welcomed as full prowlers of the wildcats. They are joined by their comrades who trained with them, Flutter Sneeze and Wiggle Leap. After the ceremony, Dream Flow pads over to Galestar, and explains that her own guide, Rise Stretch, wishes to talk with her and has a message. They walk to a secluded area in the trees, and Dream Flow rests her head so that Rise Stretch may speak. After Rise Stretch's vision, Dream Flow explains that Rise Stretch is unable to show Galestar everything, but that Galestar must choose a path for her own future.
