Chapter description

Jaypaw's PoV

Jaypaw feels Tawnypelt's pad, and tells her that it's only swollen. He tells her to stand in the stream nearby. She complains about it being cold, but stays in the water until her paws are numb. When they join the others, Squirrelflight fusses over him, and mentions that he, Hollypaw, and Lionpaw have been quiet since the battle against the trespassers. Tawnypelt announces the apprentices' return from hunting. Squirrelflight and Tawnypelt congratulate Breezepaw on his catch, but the WindClan apprentice doesn't show pride. Rather, he anxiously awaits for Crowfeather's praise, which never comes. All the warriors praise the apprentices' catches, and Stormfur and Brook thank them for it, though Jaypaw can sense discomfort from the pair. Jaypaw realizes that by accepting the fresh-kill, they are admitting their weakness. Despite this, Jaypaw can sense pride in Stormfur, and he acknowledges that being with the Tribe is his destiny.
The cats hear a howl coming from the mountains, and Brook says it is a wolf. She and Stormfur thank the ThunderClan cats for their hospitality. After the cats say their last good-byes, Stormfur and Brook pick up the fresh-kill and head back to the mountains. As they head back to the lake, the Clan cats discuss whether or not they'll ever see Stormfur and Brook again.
Lionpaw tries warning Jaypaw of a bramble, but Jaypaw hears the warning too late and got tangled in it. His littermates help him out, and guide him around obstacles the rest of the way. Jaypaw wonders if the prophecy was meant for a blind cat.
