"A small part of me wants to say, "No. I've risked my life too much already." It wants to say, "It's not fair to ask me to do more...especially now that I've finally found my paws in RiverClan." But I'm not going to say that. Not to Oakheart. Not to StarClan. And not to myself. I'll do anything to ensure RiverClan's survival. And if I have to face this unknown danger...I'll face it loyal to my Clan." |
— Feathertail's thoughts when she is chosen for a new prophecy in A Shadow in RiverClan, pages 203-204 |
Feathertail is a slender,[15] silver[16] tabby[17] she-cat[13] with sky[15]-blue eyes,[13] fur as soft as cloud,[18] a plumy tail[19] like smoke,[18] and a broad face.[20]
Feathertail was a RiverClan warrior under Leopardstar's leadership in the forest territories. Featherkit was born to Graystripe of ThunderClan and Silverstream of RiverClan alongside her brother, Stormkit. However, her mother died during the kitting, and after being temporarily fostered by Goldenflower in ThunderClan, Graystripe took his kits to RiverClan where they were fostered by Mosspelt. As an apprentice, Featherpaw was mentored by Mistyfoot, and after being held prisoner with other half-Clan cats by Tigerstar, she, along with Stormpaw and Mistyfoot, escaped to ThunderClan where her temporary mentor became Sandstorm. She fought in the battle against BloodClan before returning to RiverClan.
Following Tigerstar's defeat, Feathertail became a warrior and befriended Sasha when the former rogue joined RiverClan with her kits; however, she broke ties with Sasha after finding out about her relationship with Tigerstar. When she received a dream from Oakheart, Feathertail journeyed on a quest to the sun-drown-place and grew close with Crowpaw on the journey. Thereafter, when Feathertail was revealed as the silver cat destined to save the Tribe from Sharptooth, she died dislodging a stalactite from the cave roof, killing Sharptooth in the process. Mourning her death, Crowpaw asked to be named Crowfeather in her honor. She ascended to StarClan and reunited with Silverstream, and she also resided in the Tribe of Endless Hunting. She watched over Leafpool and convinced Squirrelflight to raise her kits, loving them as if they were her own. She gave Bramblestar and Mistystar one of their nine lives, and later ventured into the Dark Forest to defeat Ashfur.

- "They're perfect. Crowfeather would be so proud. These kits are more precious than you can possibly know. Cats will speak of them for many seasons to come. They must stay in ThunderClan, for all the Clans' sakes, with a mother and father who can be proud of them, who can share them with their Clanmates to be raised up as strong, loyal warriors. I know how much Leafpool loves these kits, but you must be their mother and raise them in ThunderClan with your head held high."

|
Personality
- Feathertail is very close to her father Graystripe[24] and her brother Stormfur,[25] who are protective of her.[26][27] She is suspicious of her RiverClan Clanmates, and cannot trust them after Stonefur's execution.[28] Her trauma is such that she withdraws into herself and isolates from others. Her resentment will eventually subside, and she will forgive Leopardstar's actions.[29] Gentle,[30] kind,[31][32] courageous,[33] compassionate,[34] and altruistic; she listens to her heart even when her feelings go against the warrior code.[35] She internalizes her anger a lot, and rarely loses her temper.[36][37][38]
Relationships
Graystripe and Silverstream
- Feathertail: "Well...no cat's mistreating us, no. I just find it hard to trust the RiverClan cats. And especially Leopardstar. After everything that happened."
- Graystripe: "I understand. And I want you to remember, you and your brother are always welcome in ThunderClan. No cat would object. You're my kits. You have the right to become ThunderClan warriors if that's what you want."
- A Shadow in RiverClan, page 116
Stormfur
- "[The dream] scared me so much. I couldn't eat or sleep for thinking about it. Stormfur knew something was wrong, and he pestered me so much that I told him what I'd dreamed. We decided that I should come to Fourtrees tonight, at the new moon, and Stormfur wouldn't let me come by myself. He...he didn't want me to be in danger. But I'm not, am I? I mean, we all know each other."
- ―Feathertail about Stormfur's concern for her Midnight (book), pages 71-72
- More Coming Soon
Crowfeather
- "Oh, Brambleclaw. Crowpaw's not so bad. It was hard for him, leaving the forest just when he was about to be made a warrior. I think he's lonely—I have Stormfur, and you have Tawnypelt and Squirrelpaw. We all knew each other before this, but Crowpaw is on his own."
- ―Feathertail defending Crowpaw Midnight (book), pages 207-208
Mistystar and Stonefur
- Mistystar was Feathertail's mentor, and Feathertail deeply respects and trusts her. She calls Mistystar "one of the best cats she's ever met,"[45] and Mistystar was one of the only cats that she trusted when she first returned to RiverClan.[46] Feathertail misses Stonefur deeply after he was killed trying to save her and Stormpaw's lives. She felt close to him and Mistyfoot since they were also half-Clan cats. Feathertail held a grudge against RiverClan for a long time because they stood by while he died.[47]
Leopardstar
- After returning to RiverClan, Feathertail initially disliked and mistrusted Leopardstar, since she did not stand up to Tigerstar when he ordered the death of Stonefur, Stormpaw, and Featherpaw.[48] She could not get over her feelings of anger, grief, and misgivings about the spotted leader, and therefore distanced herself from her Clanmates and the cats around her.[49] However, after Leopardstar proved her loyalty by saving Feathertail from a fox, Feathertail put her grudge aside, and trusted and respected Leopardstar.[50]
Sasha
- Feathertail grew close to Sasha because they were both outcasts in RiverClan. After Feathertail saved Hawk, Sasha's son, from drowning, Sasha was eternally grateful. She let Feathertail teach Hawk and Moth how to swim. However, after Feathertail learned that Sasha was mates with Tigerstar, and never stopped loving him, she distanced herself from Sasha.[51]
Mothwing and Hawkfrost
- Coming Soon
Ferncloud
- Feathertail became close with Fernpaw while she was a ThunderClan apprentice. She let Ferncloud have prey even though it had crossed the RiverClan border, and she expressed that she knew Ferncloud better than most of the cats in RiverClan.[52] However, once Feathertail put her mistrust of RiverClan cats aside, she distanced herself from Ferncloud, since Clan loyalty came first.[53]
