Field Guides in the Warriors series are reference books that reveal more information about characters seen within the main arcs.[2] They often have a narrator, and speak to the reader.

Books[]
Secrets of the Clans[]
- This is the first field guide, which concisely displays information about Clan history, traditions, territory, and lore. The book has sections on ThunderClan, WindClan, RiverClan, and ShadowClan. Each Clan section has an introduction by their leader, brief descriptions of values, specialties, and what they hunt; a tour of both their forest and lake camps, a list of significant landmarks of both the forest and lake territories, and sections on significant leaders and medicine cats and their achievements. Stories related to each individual Clan are included to supplement the information. Some are narrated by the characters themselves while others are in the third person. Other sections include battle moves, a guide to herbs, non-Clan cats, other animals, significant prophecies and omens, the warrior code, a guide to Clan ranks and terminology, and stories from Clan mythology about LionClan, TigerClan, and LeopardClan. This book introduced many concepts like the First Battle, Moth Flight discovering the Moonstone, leaders that proceeded those featured in Into the Wild, and more. Original artwork is shown throughout the book in greyscale, and special pages include full-colour textless cover art. Some of these concepts have been retconned or forgotten over the years, so many consider this field guide unreliable compared to later ones. It was released in 2007.
Cats of the Clans[]
- This field guide provided profiles of all major characters in the series as of Outcast. The profiles consist of biographies and a full-colour image of the cat. The characters were organised by Clan, and some were paired up with each other. The book is narrated by Rock as he tells stories of, and his opinion on, each featured character to Adderkit, Mosskit, and Blossomkit, three StarClan kits. This was the first field guide to feature SkyClan. It was released in 2008.
Code of the Clans[]
- This field guide covers the warrior code. In this guide, the reader is an outsider who wishes to know the ways of Clan life. The reader is guided through the book by Leafpool, who introduces the warrior code and provides commentary on it. Each code has its own chapter. In the chapters, a short story is featured which provides an origin of the code's implementation, and why it is present. Some codes have additional stories, whether it be tales of the codes in question being broken, or a monologue from a character about their experience with the code. Grayscale artwork is featured on the page, while special pages provide full-colour artwork of certain stories. This book was released in 2009.
Battles of the Clans[]
- This field guide is about battle stories and fighting techniques that the Clans have developed over their history. Much like Code of the Clans, the reader is integrated into the book as a curious outsider. This book lacks a consistent guide or narrator; instead, the reader is introduced to cats of all Clans as they share battle information to the reader. The book takes place during or after The Fourth Apprentice. Each Clan is introduced, along with specialties they have in fighting and strategy. Short stories feature these techniques in use, whether it is in training or a real battle. A tour of the battlegrounds of the Forest and the Lake are provided, along with stories of significant battles in Clan history. It includes a story for the Warriors Adventure Game. Grayscale artwork is featured on the page, while special pages provide full-colour artwork of certain stories. The book was released in 2010.
Enter the Clans[]
- This book is a paperback compilation volume of both Secrets of the Clans and Code of the Clans. The full-colour artwork from the guides is excluded in this edition. It was released in 2012.
The Ultimate Guide[]
- This field guide was released in 2013 to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Warriors series. Much like Cats of the Clans, it provides biographies of significant characters along with a full-colour portrait. This book touches upon much more characters, however, and also provides short stories about the leadership ceremonies of Bramblestar and Tigerstar. The book is not narrated by any specific character, and as such does not include the bias present in previous guides. The first printing of this book came with a cover flap that unfolded into a poster of the Warriors timeline.
The Warriors Guide[]
- This book was released in 2012 as a Barnes & Noble exclusive. It compiles existing content and artwork from Secrets of the Clans, Code of the Clans, and Battles of the Clans. It also provides a beginner's guide to the Warriors Adventure Game. The book is no longer sold.
The Ultimate Guide: Updated and Expanded Edition[]
- This field guide was released in 2023 to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the Warriors series, and the 10 year anniversary of The Ultimate Guide. It expands upon the biographies of characters features in the old guide, and includes biographies of characters from more recent books. The art has also been updated to include images solely by Owen Richardson, who took over as cover artist after the death of Wayne McLoughlin. More features were added, including a brief overview graphic of each featured character, the new warrior code, a passage from Bramblestar explaining the new code, and a section featuring Firestar and Graystripe together in StarClan; which includes short stories from various eras of Clan history.
