"The biggest battle the Clans ever face is with what lies outside their territories. For that, you need one another."
— Braveheart in Beyond the Code: Brightspirit's Mercy, page 6

Braveheart is a broad-shouldered,[1] dark[3] tabby tom.[1]

Braveheart was a former SkyClan cat, who now resides in StarClan with his mate, Shiningheart, and only daughter, Brightspirit. He and his family assisted Jaypaw in finding catmint to cure ThunderClan's greencough outbreak. He was later seen again during Jayfeather's medicine cat ceremony, watching as Brightspirit congratulated him.

History[]

In the Power of Three arc[]

Long Shadows[]

"Shiningheart. Braveheart. Your presence here honors us."
―Whitestorm greeting Shiningheart and Braveheart Long Shadows, pages 144-145
Braveheart appears in StarClan with his mate, Shiningheart, and daughter, Brightspirit. He and his family are treated with great respect and honor among the ranks of StarClan, and are welcomed warmly by Whitestorm and Bluestar. Despite all of the respect given by the StarClan warriors, Jaypaw says that he doesn't know who these cats are. Their scent isn't one he recognizes, although he can detect the faintest hint of StarClan on their pelts. During the meeting between his daughter and Jaypaw, he stays at the edge of the clearing, twining his tail with his mate's. When Leafpool gives Jaypaw his true medicine cat name, Jayfeather, he is shown to be at Brightspirit's side once again, sitting on a branch on the opposite side of the clearing.

In the Short stories and plays[]

Beyond the Code: Brightspirit's Mercy[]

Jaypaw: "They're not from ShadowClan. Actually, I don't know what Clan they belong to."
Shiningheart: "That doesn't matter, Jaypaw. We are here for the sake of all the Clans."
Braveheart: "And the other Clans will starve to death unless you help them."
—Braveheart, Shiningheart, and Brightspirt to Jaypaw Beyond the Code: Brightspirit's Mercy, page 6
Braveheart and his family come to Jaypaw during a time of great need for the Clans. He is the one to tell Jaypaw that they need to share their prey with the other Clans, because they are starving. Startled, Jaypaw tries to object to the idea, saying it's not part of the warrior code. Braveheart tells him that there's a lot more to the warrior code then he thinks, which includes the things he does every day, like sleep and eat. He says that the Clans will not survive if they don't help them.
Both Braveheart and Shiningheart are shown to be very proud of their daughter. Braveheart also says that Jaypaw has a difficult path ahead of him, to which his daughter says she'll be with him the entire time.

Braveheart: "ThunderClan has more prey than the other Clans. You will have to share your food with them."
Jaypaw: "No way! That's not part of the warrior code! Brambleclaw said so, and he’s right."
Shiningheart: "Do you only do things that the warrior code tells you to?"
Jaypaw: "Well, yes...of course. That's what being a Clan cat is all about."
