Chapter description[]
- Ravenpaw leads his battle patrol on top of the barn once the Twolegs have left. He spots Brackenfur and Bramblepaw venturing too close to the chickens, but Firestar reassures Ravenpaw they know what they are doing. The two toms open the chicken coup and release the chickens who squawk angrily at them and alert the dogs, effectively creating a distraction. On the roof, Ravenpaw realizes the hole he used to climb through into the barn has been repaired since the fire, but he and Barley slash open a new one. Firestar leads his cats onto the hay bales while Brackenfur and Bramblepaw open the barn doors to let bright moonlight through, exposing the cats in side.
- They attack the BloodClan cats, corralling them outside, and surround them in a field. Ravenpaw presses Willie to surrender, but they are ambushed by several BloodClan cats, and Ravenpaw realizes Snapper and Pounce had left for reinforcements. The field erupts into chaos as Willie and the BloodClan cats attack Ravenpaw and his friends. Firestar calls a retreat, but their enemies outnumber them. Firestar commands his cats to him and insists his warriors will fight no matter what. Willie orders their deaths, but the dogs break free of their restrains and attack the BloodClan cats. Ravenpaw realizes the dogs are on their side as repayment for saving their lives, and the ThunderClan cats managed to turn the tide of the fight.
- As Ravenpaw has Willie pinned, Hoot and Jumper call for help from Barley when the white dog corners them, insisting they didn't know the farm belonged to their brother, but Willie snarls they knew full well. Barley convinces the dog to leave them alone, and Willie threatens Ravenpaw he'll return after the Clan cats leave. Ravenpaw furiously snarls that he'll defend his territory with his life, and Willie flees. Hoot and Jumper plead to stay on the farm as they'll be killed back in the Twolegplace, and Barley begrudgingly agrees despite Firestar's hesitation. Ravenpaw and Barley somberly look at the destroyed state of their home before wishing farewell to Firestar and ThunderClan. Firestar reassures they'll always be family before returning home. Barley and Ravenpaw clean out their nests and Barley tells his brothers they'll speak in the morning.
