Code of the Clans

Finchstar is an ancient ThunderClan leader.

He leads his Clan to a Gathering, where he greets the other leaders. Suddenly, without warning, ShadowClan attacks, breaking the truce the Clans had created on the night of the full moon. Ripplestar, leader of ShadowClan, plunges down from the trees onto the rock, and a battle erupts. In anger, Finchstar attacks Ripplestar, and tells him that the attack is wrong. Finchstar asks Ripplestar to call off the attacking ShadowClan warriors, but his pleas are ignored. StarClan sends lightning, with clouds that cover the moon, and Ripplestar slips from the Great Rock. Finchstar tries to help him, but fails and Ripplestar loses his last life.

Marshscar, the ShadowClan deputy, accuses Finchstar of murdering Ripplestar, though this is not true, since the fall had killed him. Then, Finchstar explains to the Clans that another law should be added to the warrior code, there will be a truce on the night of the full moon, and that truce may not be broken. He tells ShadowClan that their leader defied StarClan, and that he was punished for it. He quietly asks StarClan to forgive the Clans for fighting as he leads his Clan home.
