"It's going to be okay. Floatkit's tough. Harestar will find her and bring her home."
Sneezecloud comforting Havenpelt in Star, page 198

Floatshimmer is a tawny she-cat.[5]

Floatshimmer is a RiverClan queen under Icestar's leadership in the lake territories. She was born during RiverClan's leader succession crisis as Floatkit to Havenpelt and Sneezecloud alongside her littermates, Troutkit and Rapidkit. Floatkit's older brother Splashtail compelled RiverClan to fight for him by threatening to kill his younger siblings and attempting to kidnap Floatkit. After peace returned to RiverClan, she earned the name Floatshimmer and had two kits with Graysky: Eelkit and Heronkit.

History[]

In the A Starless Clan arc[]

Wind[]

Floatkit is a RiverClan kit born to Havenpelt and Sneezecloud alongside her littermates, Rapidkit and Troutkit. They are born the night their older brother, Splashtail, and the medicine cat, Podlight, travel to the Moonpool, with Mothwing staying behind to assist the birth. Splashtail announces the birth of his younger siblings at the Gathering as a sign of StarClan's favor.

Star[]

Splashtail: "This kit is just the start."
Frostpaw: "The start of what?"
Splashtail: "A new RiverClan. I'll find somewhere far away from here and the others will join me. Once they realize the Clans only want to control them, they'll come. Once they see their land and their independence being stripped away."
—Splashtail holding Floatkit hostage Star, page 190
Floatkit, her littermates, Havenpelt, and Mosspelt are imprisoned in RiverClan's nursery when Nightheart is brought to join them. In order make RiverClan fight against the other Clans, Splashtail threatens to kill the kits, and he orders Minnowtail and Breezeheart to drag them into his den. When Gorseclaw brings Nightheart to Splashtail, Nightheart attempts to soothe the kits, who are pressed terrified against the back of the den. As the other Clans confront Splashtail, he summons Floatkit and her littermates and presses down on Troutkit until RiverClan fight for him. Havenpelt collects Floatkit and Rapidkit and shelters them by the camp wall until Owlnose frees Troutkit. As he nears defeat, Splashtail grabs Floatkit and flees into the river. Mallownose attempts to reach Splashtail and save Floatkit, but Fognose prevents him. Splashtail pins Floatkit's tail to the ground when he confronts Frostpaw, announcing her as the start of a new RiverClan. Frostpaw urges Floatkit to run and prevents Splashtail from intercepting her, ultimately killing the false leader. Harestar carries Floatkit on his back and returns her to Havenpelt.
While struggling between life and death, Frostpaw relives the image of Floatkit being dragged through the water by Splashtail. Floatkit plays with her littermates as RiverClan is rebuilt, and Nightheart wonders if the kits have nightmares about Splashtail. The litter join the rest of the Clan in celebration after Icestar returns from receiving her nine lives.

  1. The Elders' Quest lists Floatshimmer as the mother of Heronkit and Eelkit.[2] However, due to timeline inconsistencies, this would mean Floatshimmer was pregnant at no more than eight moons old, as The Elders' Quest begins in late leaf-fall[3] and Floatshimmer was born in early leaf-bare[4] of the same year in Wind.[1]
