"It was my destiny to be here, just as it is your destiny to be beside the river. I must be the one to give you your last life, and with it, you will change the lives of so many others."
— Flutter to River Ripple in Riverstar's Home, page 297

Flutter is a soft-furred, long-haired,[1] pale orange she-cat with bright blue eyes and a long tail.[3]

History[]

In the Dawn of the Clans arc[]

Thunder Rising[]

"Look! There's Dart.. and Shine... and that's your sister Flutter!"
―Ripple to Arc Thunder Rising, page 8 (Bonus Scene)
In the bonus scene, Flutter is a member of the Cats of the Park. As Ripple and Arc are fleeing during a Twoleg assault, the pair of cats see Flutter, Dart, and Shine being taken away. Ripple points out Flutter to Arc, who, upon seeing his sister, sadly remarks that there is nothing they are able to do for the three cats. The two fleeing cats continue on their way, listening to the helpless yowling and mewing of the cats they left behind.

In the Super Editions[]

Riverstar's Home[]

«Pain suddenly pricked his heart. Why couldn't Flutter be with him. Their kits should be the first generations to live beside the river. It wasn't fair. He realized, with a pang so sharp that it left him breathless, that he'd probably never see Flutter again, and, despite being surrounded by rivermates, he felt a loneliness that seemed to stretch on forever into the future.»
—River Ripple's thoughts about Flutter Riverstar's Home, page 263
As monsters and Twolegs destroy their home, Flutter freezes in fear as the monsters approach her, Dart, and Shine. Ripple tells Arc that they must help, but Arc somberly insists that they have no choice but to flee while they still can. Twolegs throw webs over Flutter, Dart, and Shine, and Ripple somberly wonders what his future will be like without Flutter. As he's swept away down the river on a log, Ripple dreams of Flutter becoming his mate. When he arrives to the island, River Ripple does his best to reunite with Flutter and his parkmates, but he loses his way. As the moons pass, River Ripple begins to wonder if he will ever see her again or if they have a future together.
Moons later, as the silver tom settles by the river with other loners in the area, River Ripple spots an orange butterfly fluttering around him before disappearing into the sky while meditating, and he wonders if it was a sign that he should let Flutter go. As the moons pass and River Ripple is called by the spirit cats to lead a group, he continues to lament Flutter and realizes that he might never see her again. He finds comfort in Night, who also mourns the loss of her mate and kits. To his dismay, Flutter appears during his nine lives ceremony. She reveals that she was killed by a monster while trying to escape the Twolegs, and River Ripple is horrified at her fate. However, Flutter grants him his final life, the gift of courage.
When Arc arrives with a plea for Riverstar to help since Slash and his rogues took over the park cats, Arc tells Riverstar how Flutter was killed by a monster. Feeling conflicted between helping his former parkmates and protecting his new Clan, Riverstar visits the Moonstone to speak with StarClan. They send him a vision of a river splitting into two with Flutter's voice telling him to choose. Later, when Riverstar falls in love with Finch, he briefly thinks of Flutter, but knows she would want him to be happy.
