Fogdrift is a warrior of ThunderClan and Stripestar's mate. As ThunderClan travels to attack WindClan, Fogdrift questions if it is a fight that ThunderClan can win when its warriors are weak from hunger. She has faith in Stripestar, but does not want him to start a battle only to prove himself as leader. Feeling a rush of affection in response to his mate's concern, Stripestar is grateful, but remains firm in his decision. Determinedly, Fogdrift agrees, prepared to fight for her Clan. Stripestar confronts Galestar about WindClan's prey-stealing, and she accuses of him lying. Furious at the insult, Fogdrift attacks Galestar, ignoring Stripestar's warning. A full-on battle erupts between ThunderClan and WindClan as the two she-cats tussle. Stripestar attempts to help her but is distracted by a brown she-cat. He spots her again just in time to watch Galestar ram Fogdrift's flank, sending her to the ground. When his mate fails to get up, Stripestar and Galestar rush to her side to find that she has hit her head on a rock and is dying. Galestar panics and attempts to stop the bleeding, but it is fruitless. Pebblenose pulls his leader away as WindClan flees, and Stripestar is left to watch as his mate slowly dies, frozen with grief.

Galestar, wracked with guilt, decides to go to ThunderClan to apologize for Fogdrift's death, despite Pebblenose's warning that Stripestar may desire revenge. Stripestar, however, does not blame Galestar, but himself, for not listening when Fogdrift expressed her doubts about the battle. Later, at a Gathering, after forging an alliance with WindClan and taking Sunningrocks, Stripestar is forced to tell the other Clans about Fogdrift's death, and the cats are shocked, questioning him for allying with the Clan that killed his mate. Ravencry asks about his relationship with Galestar, causing Stripestar to wonder if he loves Fogdrift. After having her second litter of kits with Stripestar, Galestar names the she-cat Fogkit after Fogdrift. Later, during Whitestep's leadership ceremony, Fogdrift gives her a life for loyalty, never looking at Stripestar.

Personality and traits

Fogdrift is cautious and cares for her Clan, including her mate, Stripestar. She looks out for Stripestar out of love, warning him when needed and sharing her concerns, as she did when she doubted his decision to attack WindClan. She can be fiercely protective of those she cares about, having recklessly attacked Galestar after the WindClan leader accused Stripestar of lying.
