Feel free to treat this like a talk page and use : to reply with comments on specific sections. This one is going to be a fairly long discussion with many various things that will need to be discussed as we head towards some sort of consensus.
Since the RP site pages have become a recent larger issue I feel it would be a good time to begin discussing the matter and cover some of the details. I have a few specific proposals I'd like to discuss and get input on before things head into policy-writing and things like that. Kitsufox Fox's Den 17:24, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
Update Frequency[]
I feel that some level of update frequency needs to be required. I'm thinking something like once a month, even if it's just opening the page, entering 'nothing new to report' in the edit summary and hitting submit. That way people can't just make a page and then vanish into the abyss. What does everything think? Should it be longer than this? Should we not require such a thing? Marking of Pages[]
I feel that Pages need to be marked clearly. Step one is that RP pages should be included in both the Category:Online Phenomenon and Category:Role Play Phenomenon Categories. I also feel that a Template for the top of the pages should be created that reads something akin to "This page documents a Role Playing Game and any plot information located here in is of Fan Creation". Thoughts, Ideas, input? Kitsufox Fox's Den 17:24, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. Hobbes(Tiger's Lair) 23:54, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Fanon Characters[]
Few different topics on this.
Inclusion[]
I think Fanon Characters from established games should be permitted. Maybe even for not-so-established games, and do something like make them on sub-pages of the RP Site Article. More thoughts?, Feelings?, Other Stuff? Kitsufox Fox's Den
- Eh... I'm a little wary of adding fanon to WW, but I'm a Wookieepedian :P. If we do, though, we'd better have a biiiiiiiiig notice on the top of the page that states it as clearly as can be. If I assume that we are adding fanon characters for sure, though, all three ideas sound good to me. Hobbes(Tiger's Lair) 23:53, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
- Unlike Wookiepedia ;) We don't have a Warriors Fanon Wiki to redirect such content to. But yes. I intend to do something like slap a big ol' exclamation point into the template. These character would probobly best be stored at gamepage/characters/charactername sort of thing, rather than a top level article, too. Kitsufox Fox's Den 03:22, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- Follow up here, just a thing I failed to respond about that's been nagging at me. We did have Talk:Main Page/Opinion Archive 2 concerning RP characters, related to Categories for RP characters. I think the results of that one implied the inclusion of characters from more established games. If you want, though, we can discuss even including such characters. Kitsufox Fox's Den 03:10, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
Templates[]
My plan is for there to be a template specifically for Fanon Characters that imitates the Cat Character Template, and one to place at the top describing the fact that it's a Fanon Character. Kitsufox Fox's Den 17:24, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
- Might want to also add the game the character is a part of to the template. I'm not sure, since we haven't sorted out categories yet, but a template shows a cat is affiliated with ThunderClan in the non-Fanon space, even if they're in a category that designates them as a ThunderClan cat, for example. Just tossing an idea out there. Gorse 00:05, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
Category[]
I think a Master Category titled "Fanon Characters" should be created that all fanon characters are in should be created, and then each category should be created as a Sub-Category with the title of "Gamename characters". Each category should be clearly marked as a list of fanon characters, and perhaps a template for the top, making it 1000% clear that it's fanon information. What do y'all think?
