"What did we really gain by moving to the lake? What kind of leader have I been?"

"There's no need to be shy. Starlingpaw and Robinpaw were really nice. And it's fine to talk to cats from other Clans at a Gathering. Didn't Sunbeam tell you that?"
— Goldenpaw trying to encourage Moonpaw in The Elders' Quest, pages 67-68

Goldenpaw is a strong[4] golden tabby tom.[1]

History[]

In the Changing Skies arc[]

The Elders' Quest[]

"I'm sure you'll soon catch up to us. [...] I still can't get my hunter's crouch right. It's fine when I'm practicing, but when I actually want to stalk prey, it goes all over the place. It's like my hind paws don't know what my forepaws are doing!"
―Goldenpaw advising Moonpaw on the hunting crouch The Elders' Quest, page 236
Goldenpaw and Shinepaw are ThunderClan kits born to Sunbeam and Nightheart.
Goldenpaw and Shinepaw's apprentice ceremony has just ended, with their mentors being Finleap and Flipclaw. Moonkit feels envious, recalling how Goldenkit and Shinekit had tried to reassure her when Nightheart informed them of their upcoming ceremony. The two siblings leave camp with their mentors after the ceremony. Not long after, Moonkit is called to receive her apprentice name as well, and Goldenpaw and Shinepaw are excited. At the following Gathering, Squirrelstar announces the three new apprentices, and Leafstar notices Goldenpaw and Shinepaw sitting together.
The next morning, the siblings excitedly chat about the Gathering, and Goldenpaw encourages Moonpaw to be less shy around the other Clans before they leave the den to see their mentors. When Moonpaw is woken by yowling and runs to her fellow apprentices, they are excited about the screeching noise, with Goldenpaw thinking it could be an attack by SkyClan for food. Later, after Moonpaw's first journey to the Moonpool, Goldenpaw and Shinepaw ask her about it, with Goldenpaw wishing that he could see it. They part from Moonpaw when Finleap calls them for training.
After Moonpaw becomes a warrior apprentice again, Goldenpaw and Shinepaw are bewildered to see her joining them for training, and Goldenpaw asks her if Jayfeather would not let her be a medicine cat. Upon being scolded for this, he apologizes. As the apprentices prepare to hunt, Goldenpaw and Shinepaw offer advice to Moonpaw by discussing how they struggle with it, and Goldenpaw mentions his trouble with the hunting crouch while stalking prey. Moonpaw takes down a rabbit, and Goldenpaw praises her with a joke. The three apprentices work together soon after to hunt a squirrel and Goldenpaw remarks that they are a good team. Afterwards, when Moonpaw is cleaning the warriors' den, Goldenpaw and Shinepaw offer to help her so that she can relax and eat, but she desires to distract herself. When she does settle down to sleep, the siblings are gone.
