- He tries again later with a similar result, except this time Millie jumps in to tell the dog to go away.
- Later on, the two dogs enter the barn, but Splash tells them off.
- Graystripe and Millie decide to go catch a bird.
- When hunting, they see a little Twoleg without their parents, and Graystripe pretends to be a kittypet to save her.
- When they return, they tell the barn cats about the success.
- Millie cannot sleep because she misses her twolegs, but tells Graystripe she won’t go back to them.
- The next day, Millie and Graystripe see the whole twoleg family. They lead them to the barn and show them the barn cats.
- Graystripe and Millie leave for ThunderClan territory.
- Graystripe can only slightly remember landmarks.
- They then fall into what is left of the ThunderClan camp. He finds no cat there and his home is gone.

- Only the medicine den made it through the destruction, so they slept there.

- Graystripe catches a mouse, and thanks StarClan for all the prey caught in the forest.

- They tour the territories and see all the destruction and harm that has happened.
- Graystripe reflects on Silverstream.
- They go to the barn to ask Ravenpaw and Barley for help. They stay the night.
- When the two leave, Ravenpaw reflects that Graystripe was his last connection to the forest and clans.
- The two go through many locations: Twolegplace, Thunderpaths, fields of sheep.
- They arrive at Mack’s Truck Stop, where they eat some food in the stop.
- Graystripe is mad at Millie, runs out, and gets hit by a monster.
- When Graystripe wakes up, they meet Diesel, who helps them out.
- They stay at the truck stop for a good while so Graystripe can recover.
- When he does recover, Millie suggests they get on one of the trucks to try and get to the Clans faster and make up for lost time. Graystripe agrees after sleeping on it.
- They hop on the monster, which eventually slows down and stops at an inn. They go to sleep, but are woken to fight a group of mean kittypets.
- They fight them off.
- They almost miss the monster, but they make it. Later, Millie sees the sun-drown place.
- They go into a forest close to the sun-drown place, where they ask a loner if they have seen the clans. The loner points them in the right direction, and they set off.
- They see a gathering taking place. Before they go to the island, Graystripe finally tells Millie he loves her.
- They get on the island and see many cats, like Firestar, Leopardstar, Blackstar, and Onestar.
- Firestar meets Graystripe once again, and Graystripe introduces Millie to everyone.
