"I-I didn't mean—Maybe I got it wrong. It's not like they like each other, not in that way. I'm sure of it."
— Gullswoop to Sunbeam about Lightleap and Blazefire in River, page 157

Gullswoop is a white she-cat.[10]

Gullswoop is a ShadowClan warrior under Tigerstar's leadership in the lake territories. She was born as Gullkit to Snowbird and Scorchfur alongside her littermates, Conekit and Frondkit during the Kin's reign. Her family escaped to ThunderClan until returning to ShadowClan; however, her Clan was annexed to SkyClan. Thereafter, Tigerstar was resurrected, and she became an apprentice as Gullpaw with Grassheart as her mentor, and later earned her warrior name, Gullswoop.

History[]

In the A Vision of Shadows arc[]

Shattered Sky[]

Puddleshine delivers Snowbird and Scorchfur's kits, Gullkit, Frondkit, and Conekit. As Violetpaw removes ticks from Ratscar and Oakfur, the elders comment on how some young cats don't seem to understand loyalty, wondering what kind of world Snowbird's kits would grow up in.
She is with her littermates and mother in the Kin's nursery when Scorchfur attempts to convince Darktail to give the RiverClan prisoners some food. Violetpaw wills him not to argue with the rogue leader, thinking that his mate would struggle to feed the kits by herself.
As Violetpaw starts sneaking out cats to ThunderClan's territory, Alderheart reflects on how she had brought out Snowbird and her kits the second time, where they had settled into the ThunderClan nursery. Snowbird and her kits appear at the entrance of the nursery when Bramblestar calls a meeting, beginning with how glad he is to see the ShadowClan cats, and the kits, safe and well. At a later meeting to announce the fight to finally drive out the rogues, both Snowbird and Blossomfall come to the entrance of the nursery, all of their kits frisking around their paws.

River of Fire[]

When Violetshine searches for Yarrowleaf's kits, Flaxkit and Hopkit, she spots Snowbird, sleeping with her kits inside the SkyClan nursery.

The Raging Storm[]

She is a new apprentice, and her mentor is Grassheart.

In The Broken Code[]

The Silent Thaw[]

"There was nothing we could do."
―Gullswoop to Cinnamontail about Antfur's death The Silent Thaw, page 127
Gullswoop assists in hauling Antfur's body into the ShadowClan camp after he is killed falling from a tree. She tells Cinnamontail that there was nothing they could have done to save him. Shadowsight later watches Gullswoop, Snaketooth, Yarrowleaf, and Conefoot preparing to leave for the dawn patrol before confronting his father about delivering the message of the codebreakers. When Rootpaw and Tree arrive in ShadowClan to reveal the truth about Bramblestar, Gullswoop leads the two into camp with Blazefire.

Veil of Shadows[]

Her brother, Conefoot, dies from a skirmish against the impostor. Later on, during a major battle, her sister, Frondwhisker, is killed.

Darkness Within[]

Shadowsight: "It was a big bee."
Gullswoop: "Bees are a warrior's greatest enemy."
Blazefire: "More dangerous than foxes."
—Gullswoop and Blazefire teasing Shadowsight after he was scared by a bee Darkness Within, page 140
Shadowsight watches Gullswoop and Hollowspring clearing out old nests from the warriors' den, and grows self-conscious and wonders if his Clanmates are watching him. Lightleap notices Shadowsight's somber mood and asks if he wanted to hunt with her, Blazefire, Gullswoop, and Hollowspring. He agrees, and Gullswoop advices Shadowsight that his first lesson is to learn how to sit still. While they bury Blazefire's rabbit, Shadowsight is excited by the energy of the younger warriors since he's used to working alone. While Hollowspring, Blazefire, and Gullswoop are stalking sparrows, Shadowsight is scared by a bee and the sparrows fly off. Gullswoop and Blazefire gently tease Shadowsight for being frightened by a bee. Later, Gullswoop and Tawnypelt are in camp when Lionblaze arrives demanding the impostor's death.

A Light in the Mist[]

Gullswoop joins the chant of Lightleap's name when the latter volunteers to go to the Dark Forest to break the barrier.

In the A Starless Clan arc[]

River[]

"Sor-reeeee. I was only trying to help."
―Gullswoop after Sunbeam injures herself on patrol River, page 194
Gullswoop goes on a hunting patrol with Sunbeam and Yarrowleaf. While carrying their prey back to camp, Gullswoop compliments Sunbeam's hunting skills, though Sunbeam realizes she's only trying to cheer her up after her fall out with Lightleap. Sunbeam insists she's fine, and Gullswoop is relieved, though wonders if she is still distant from Lightleap because she's spending so much time with Blazefire. Sunbeam is horrified since she had planned to be mates with Blazefire, though Gullswoop attempts to insists that Lightleap might not have feelings for Blazefire. Sunbeam grows to resent Gullswoop and is horrified when she joins a hunting patrol with her. Gullswoop compliments Sunbeam's catch, much to Sunbeam's ire. When Sunbeam's recklessness causes her to be injured, Gullswoop chides Sunbeam that she should be more careful and Sunbeam snaps at her.

Sky[]

«The white she-cat had been watching her like an apprentice watching prey, trying to guess her thoughts, as hungry for gossip as the rest of ShadowClan.»
—Sunbeam's thoughts about Gullswoop Sky, page 3
While hunting, Sunbeam quickly grows tired with Gullswoop's constant presence and flattery after Sunbeam's falling out with Blazefire and Lightleap. She finally snaps at Gullswoop to leave her alone, though the white she-cat insists that Sunbeam will find someone one day, though comments how Blazefire isn't Clanborn. Gullswoop and Flaxfoot later race to ThunderClan's camp with news of an emergency medicine cat meeting to discuss the catmint shortage. After Rowankit's death, Gullswoop whispers with Stonewing outside the warriors' den.

Shadow[]

Sunbeam: "The ravine looks steep and dangerous, but it's actually pretty easy to cross safely, provided you take your time."
Nightheart: "If that had been my task, how could I possibly have known?"
Gullswoop: "That's right. You couldn't. That task was totally unfair."
—Gullswoop speaking out against Fringewhisker's task Shadow, chapter 5
When Nightheart bursts into ShadowClan, he tells Gullswoop that he and Sunbeam are incredibly close and that he wants to spend the rest of his life in ShadowClan so he can be with her. Gullswoop says that she had no idea, contemplating this news as if she were looking at the juiciest piece of fresh-kill on the pile. Though Sunbeam feels flattered, she thinks to herself that Nightheart should have told her his feelings before he told Gullswoop. Gullswoop taps Nightheart with the tip of her tail as Sunbeam approaches them. Sunbeam inwardly laments that cats like Gullswoop will be gossiping for moons.
Later, when Berryheart announces that she has been chosen to organize tasks for cats who wish to join ShadowClan, Gullswoop gives Sunbeam a look of approval. As Fringewhisker's new task begins, to cross a ravine near the SkyClan border, Sunbeam observes that a fallen tree in the ravine is crawling with snakes that had bitten Gullswoop back in greenleaf. After Fringewhisker succeeds, Gullswoop complains that the task was deceptively easy, but still totally unfair. However, Yarrowleaf disagrees with her and the two she-cats bicker.
When Sunbeam is away guarding RiverClan, Nightheart recalls how he was pleased to be chosen for an early hunting patrol with Gullswoop and Pouncestep.

Wind[]

"We were stuck guarding RiverClan, and it was horrible."
―Gullswoop to Tigerstar about his leadership Wind, chapter 4
When Tigerstar calls a meeting to air grievances about his leadership, Gullswoop is encouraged by Frostpaw's breaking the ice. She laments that their time being forced to guard RiverClan was horrible, twitching her whiskers resentfully.
