- Hazelwing is a SkyClan queen. Although unnamed, she is seen carrying a tiny kit with Birdflight to a Gathering, and kits that are several moons older following them behind.

Cloudstar's Journey
- Hazelwing is first seen hurrying over to Cloudstar because her kits, Emberkit, Mistlekit, Hatchkit, and Webkit are pestering him for battle moves. She apologizes for her kits' behavior and explains to him that it was the only way to give Birdflight some peace. Later, while Cloudstar and Birdflight are discussing kits, Cloudstar remarks that two kits of each gender would be nice, like Hazelwing's litter.
- After the tree falls, Hazelwing blubbers that they don't know how far the Twolegs will come, and adds that her kits are too young to survive things like that. Later, before Buzzardtail, the deputy of SkyClan, and Cloudstar visit the site of the fallen tree, Birdflight helps Hazelwing herd her kits back to her nest in the nursery.
- Shortly after this, Cloudstar asks if every cat has eaten. Birdflight replies that she thinks every cat did, and adds that Petalfall, an elder, shared some prey with Hazelwing and her litter of kits, and said she wasn't hungry. Cloudstar then announces that every cat has to eat once a day at dusk.
- Later, at a Gathering during the height of greenleaf, Cloudstar is sad at how his Clan is going hungry while the other Clans have almost too much prey. He envisions the miniscule pile of fresh-kill below the elderflower bush, the too-skinny elders, and the squeals of Hazelwing's kits when their stomachs hurt because they were slowly starving. When Cloudstar makes his report, he mentions that Hazelwing's four continue to grow, and are tiring out the warriors with their games.
- Fawnstep the medicine cat tells Cloudstar that she must help Hazelwing prepare the kits for the vigil. Hazelwing slowly hurries her kits along, but Emberkit tries to lick Petalfall to see if she tastes any different, and gets a cuff on the ear from Hazelwing.
- Later, it is noted that every cat hates the taste of water vole now, especially Hazelwing's kits, who complain loudly about being hungry. Shortly after this, at SkyClan's last Gathering, Hazelwing is seen with Birdflight, carrying Gorsekit while Birdflight holds Spottedkit, and Hazelwing's litter of four scurries beside them.
