"It's not just the prey. We have to show them we can't be bullied."
— Hollow to River Ripple about Clear Sky's group in Riverstar's Home, page 163

Hollow is a broad-shouldered[4] black tom.[2]

History[]

In the Dawn of the Clans arc[]

Thunder Rising[]

While hunting with his patrol, Hollow confronts Thunder in the forest. Thunder tries to run away, but Hollow pursues and snarls at him, almost pushing the ginger tom off the branch. He scratches Thunder hard and sends him tumbling down, but Thunder lands on his paws. He tells the black tom that he was not going to hurt him, and Clear Sky appears, ordering Hollow's patrol to leave. As Thunder gets up, Clear Sky shoves Hollow and he runs away, with a she-cat following him.

In the Super Editions[]

Riverstar's Home[]

"If we can fight as well as the mountain cats and the rogues, we can make them peaceful."
―Hollow Riverstar's Home, page 222
Hollow is a loner who decides to settle in River Ripple's informal group. He has a great sense of hearing which makes him skillful at hunting. He catches a weasel with River Ripple and Whistle. When Cleo and her kits arrive in their shared hollow, the black tom gently teases that they are very strange-looking fish. When Casper wounds Night, Hollow offers to fetch wet moss for her with Whistle. He also offers to find borage for Dappled Pelt when she arrives to treat Night's wound. Later, Hollow, Whistle, and Croak leave on a short wander, and River Ripple wonders if the loners will come back. Hollow and the others later return the day after the fire, and soon, he, Night, and River Ripple hunt in the charred forest. After catching a squirrel, the three cats are confronted by Quick Water and Nettle for trespassing in Clear Sky's territory. River Ripple convinces Hollow and Night that they should leave, though Hollow is frustrated that they had to leave their prey and confronts River Ripple about it.
Hollow wakes River Ripple early the next morning, announcing that he is going back to the forest to reclaim the prey they left behind. Night and River Ripple follow him, though they discover that their prey is missing. Hollow is determined to not leave without catching more prey, and he bounds away into the forest. River Ripple and Night chase after him, and they spot Hollow attacking Thunder, Clear Sky's son, in a tree. After they fall out of the tree, Thunder pins him and snarls that he had not intended to hurt him. Clear Sky erupts from the undergrowth and snarls for Hollow to leave, attacking him when he refuses to back down. The loner then flees, and River Ripple tells Night to go with him while he speaks with Clear Sky. As leaf-bare approaches, Hollow resumes his wandering and leaves the informal group for short periods of time with Mist, though the pair return a half-moon later to officially join River Ripple's group with the silver tom as their leader. Hollow and Mist had encountered One Eye during their travels, and they inform River Ripple about the dangerous rogue. When Tall Shadow brings news of One Eye joining Clear Sky's group, Hollow is eager to begin training to fight. Hollow later participates in the battle against One Eye and is pleased when he is killed.
When Dappled Pelt and Shattered Ice join their group, Hollow believes they will need to expand their territory, but River Ripple disagrees since the river will provide everything they need. Later, Hollow, Croak, and River Ripple challenge Moss and Dawn when they eat their catch before bringing it back to their camp. Hollow later hunts with Riverstar, Mist, Croak, Spider Paw, and Pine Needle when they come across Lightning Tail and Cloud Spots with Arc. When Riverstar decides to leave with Arc to help the Cats of the Park, he tells Night that she will be leader if he fails to return in two moons. Night argues that Hollow or Dew would be better leaders, but Riverstar insists they might think of themselves first instead of the Clan. When Riverstar returns, Hollow greets him coldly. Sensing Hollow's and Dew's lingering hostility, Riverstar invites them to go on a border patrol with him. Hollow points out the tree-bridge that SkyClan has been using to trespass on their territory. The black tom is eager to defend his territory but knows the SkyClan warriors are strong fighters. Hollow leads one of the battle patrols during the battle against SkyClan. His patrol drags the SkyClan warriors into the river, and he fights against Nettle. He helps his Clanmates shove the tree-bridge into the river after SkyClan flees to prevent them from trespassing.
