Houndstar is a brown-and-white tom.

In Goosefeather's Curse, Houndstar is a ShadowClan leader. During a Gathering, Doestar announces that ThunderClan has three new litters of kits. Houndstar leans over to Volestar of RiverClan and mutters that it is too close to leaf-bare, and that the ThunderClan warriors will not like having to catch extra prey to feed more mouths. Doestar overhears and explains that ThunderClan is prepared for the leaf-bare. Raindrops start splattering the hollow, and Houndstar leaps to his paws and announces they need to return back to their territories before the rain starts. He calls for his Clan to come, and leads ShadowClan back to camp.
