Chapter description

RiverClan and ShadowClan have managed to corner WindClan in their own camp after attacking them, and Crookedstar and Nightstar attempt to convince Tallstar to abandon his territory again. Some of the RiverClan warriors talk about using their alliance to take Sunningrocks, but Leopardfur silently disapproves. She scents Onewhisker, who had fled, and goes to investigate, but her attention is brought back to WindClan when the battle erupts again. As she hesitates to join in, a ThunderClan patrol arrives to help WindClan.

Leopardfur is attacked by Stagleap and she manages to fling him away, but a ThunderClan tom leaps in to help. She backs away from them and sees Graystripe bringing another ThunderClan patrol into the camp. The ThunderClan tom who had attacked Leopardfur is knocked away by Stonefur, while Heavystep deals with Stagleap. Leopardfur sees Fireheart running to help Tigerclaw and intercepts him, wanting revenge for Whiteclaw's death. When she overwhelms him, he calls out to Tigerclaw, but to Leopardfur's surprise, Tigerclaw does not help. Fireheart manages to throw Leopardfur off and vanishes into the battle, and she helps Lakeshine against a ThunderClan she-cat and a WindClan tom.

Whitestorm attacks Leopardfur, but when she hears Nightstar screech, she pushes him away. Nightstar is defeated by Fireheart and ShadowClan flees, leaving RiverClan alone. Mousefur attacks Leopardfur alongside Whitestorm and they overwhelm her, and she sees Crookedstar fighting Tigerclaw. Defeated, Crookedstar calls a retreat, and RiverClan flees. Over the next few days, Leopardfur notices that Silverstream has been distant from her Clanmates, and she comments on her isolation, but Silverstream claims that she is not lonely. Leopardfur proposes Stonefur as a mate, but Silverstream does not want a mate. Still curious, Leopardfur follows her the next day and finds her meeting with Graystripe.
