Chapter description

Timberfur reports to Crookedstar that the kits and Frogleap's body were not found. Leopardfur, still grieving, remembers that Mistyfoot had watched the temporary burial for Robinkit and Woodkit, and feels guilty for the Clan's losses. Blackclaw demands to go back out and search, and he asks Leopardfur why she said nothing to him. As Crookedstar gives out orders, Leopardfur admires him, and he allows Blackclaw to go back out, sending Leopardfur and Stonefur with him. He advises Leopardfur to protect the Clan rather than focusing on her grief. Leopardfur's patrol ends up finding Fireheart and Graystripe with the kits, and the ThunderClan warriors claim to have saved them. Despite her misgivings, Leopardfur takes them back to the temporary camp.

Leopardfur reports back to Crookedstar, and while Graypool comforts the kits, he questions Fireheart and Graystripe. Mistyfoot hurries to her kits, and Fireheart explains to Crookedstar what happened. Leopardfur believes his story, as does the majority of RiverClan, and Crookedstar expresses his gratitude. Fireheart comments on their difficulties with the flood, and Crookedstar initially rejects his offer for help, but Graypool argues, and she and Mudfur give Fireheart more details. He and Graystripe offer to hunt for RiverClan, and Crookedstar reluctantly accepts, acknowledging to Leopardfur that they need the help. Even so, Leopardfur is suspicious of Fireheart's intentions.

Errors

• After RiverClan evacuated their camp and took shelter on a hill nearby, Leopardfur goes out with a patrol to look for Mistyfoot's missing kits. However, her patrol needs to have gone long before RiverClan saw the need to evacuate as Leopardfur is surprised to see her Clan shelter from it when she returns.
• In Forest of Secrets, after Fireheart tells the RiverClan patrol that they saved the kits from the flood, Graystripe asks them if they think they did it for fun. However, in Leopardstar's Honor, Graystripe says nothing.
• When Crookedstar asks them how they have the kits, Fireheart replies sarcastically, "We flew across the river and broke into your camp without anyone noticing." However, in Forest of Secrets, he simply says, "We flew across the river."
• Graypool is one of the first cats to show herself when Fireheart and Graystripe return Mistyfoot's missing kits. She is also shown caring for the two before Mistyfoot herself arrives. In Forest of Secrets, however, Graypool doesn't appear until after Mistyfoot reunites with her kits.

Trivia

• This chapter aligns with chapter twelve of Forest of Secrets.
• When Fireheart and Graystripe meet the RiverClan patrol with the kits, Stonefur says, "They're Mistyfoot's missing kits!" However, in Leopardstar's Honor, he tells Blackclaw, "They're your kits!" This is most likely because, at the time that Forest of Secrets was written, Blackclaw had not been established as Mistyfoot's mate until it was mentioned on Vicky's Facebook and on the Warrior Cats website family tree.
