Two moons later, Leopardpaw and her mentor , Whitefang, go out on a fishing lesson with Skypaw, Sunpaw, and their mentors.

Noticing Leopardpaw's hesitance, Whitefang takes her to a shallow pool upstream to fish .

The Twoleg attacks the cats with a curved spike and they flee, with Frogleap helping Mosspelt when her claws get stuck in the den.
Leopardfur manages to grab a salmon and kill it, and she and Frogleap drag it across the river and escape.
The deputy warns her patrol not to tell the Clan what they had done to keep others from trying it.
Back home, the Clan admires the patrol's catch, but when Shadepaw is injured by a thorn in the fish, Crookedstar realizes the truth.
The patrol confesses to what happened and is praised by their Clanmates.
Crookedstar calls Leopardfur and informs her that Brokenstar has been driven out of ShadowClan , with Nightpelt as their new leader.
To Leopardfur's agitation, he decides not to do anything about ShadowClan yet. Wanting to show that she is not jealous of Mosspelt's relationship with Frogleap, Leopardfur asks her to help steal another fish from the Twoleg.
Hesitantly, Mosspelt agrees, wanting to impress Frogleap.
Watching the Twoleg, the two cats wait for it to enter its den before striking.
While trying to grab a fish, Mosspelt is captured in webbing by the Twoleg.
Leopardfur runs home for help and reports to Crookedstar.
Frogleap overhears and furiously snaps at her, revealing that Mosspelt is expecting his kits.
Leopardfur realizes that she still loves him.
With Voleclaw and Cedarpelt , Leopardfur returns to the Twoleg den, where they hear Mosspelt yowling.
When the Twoleg heads for its monster , the cats rush to enter the den, slipping under the wall.
