Lightning Scratches the Sky is a member of the Tribe of Rushing Water.

When Stripestar tells the mountain cats that StormClan is searching for a home, Lightning leaps down from her ledge to confront him, saying that the mountains are the Tribe of Rushing Water's territory. A green-eyed cat tells her that they should allow Stoneteller to judge StormClan, as she had mentioned visitors. Gust introduces them to Lightning, and Stripestar and Galestar are hopeful at the sound of their names. Gust and Lightning take StormClan to the tree-rock, where they tell Stripestar and Galestar that their Clan must stay there and wait for them. They are initially bewildered as to who leads StormClan, as they are accustomed to a single leader. As they travel to the Cave of Pointed Stones, Lightning is amused by Stripestar and Galestar's amazement at the waterfall.
