Chapter description[]

Hollyleaf and Lionblaze catch prey before returning to the ThunderClan camp. Lionblaze says he is worried about the sick cats and wants to help Leafpool. Hollyleaf agrees, and they return to camp, relieved that they had saved ShadowClan from Sol. Hollyleaf worries about what they will tell Tawnypelt. The camp is almost empty, as most cats are in their dens. She spots Sandstorm and Squirrelflight sharing a thrush near the fresh-kill pile. Lionblaze greets Poppyfrost, who is heading towards the dirtplace, and asks her where Tawnypelt is. She says the ShadowClan cat is in Firestar's den with Brambleclaw. Hollyleaf tells him to hold on, as they have not decided what to tell Tawnypelt yet. Squirrelflight approves of Hollyleaf and Lionblaze's catch, while Sandstorm is suspicious of the mud all over their pelts.
They are distracted by the arrival of a ThunderClan patrol escorting Littlecloud. Squirrelflight goes to fetch Firestar, and Sandstorm greets the ShadowClan medicine cat as they wait for him. Littlecloud explains that he wishes to speak with Tawnypelt, who is hostile towards his presence but agrees to hear him out. He explains that ShadowClan is returning to the warrior code and their faith in StarClan, Sol has been exiled, and Blackstar wants to welcome Tawnypelt back into the Clan. Her kits have already rejoined the Clan, and Birchfall and Dustpelt suggest that they had something to do with ShadowClan's change of heart. Lionblaze suggests that Sol is not all bad and that he could have been a mentor to the Three, but Hollyleaf argues fiercely against this idea, calling Sol a danger to the warrior code.
Later, while on a hunting patrol, Hollyleaf runs into Sol. He says that he is not ready to leave the lake and that the Clans, and Hollyleaf in particular, need him. Hollyleaf rejects him furiously, and he questions whether they have truly found the Three before leaving, but Hollyleaf believes she has not seen the last of him. On their way back from the hunting patrol, Hollyleaf notices that Dustpelt is falling ill. Sorreltail strongly suggests that he see Leafpool, and Hollyleaf goes to tell the medicine cat on Dustpelt's behalf. Leafpool tells her that Longtail, Daisy, Honeyfern, and Rosekit are all sick. She doubts her abilities to help them all, and Hollyleaf reassures her that everyone will recover with the help of Leafpool's expertise. The medicine cat tells Hollyleaf to keep her strength up, and the black she-cat feels excited about the future of the Clans and the prophecy.
