Chapter description
- A warrior of StarClan looks down from the sky at the lake and the Clan's territories surrounding it. They see a half-moon floating in the sky, and the spirit cat notes it to be leaf-bare due to the snow covering the landscape. The warrior watches two tiny figures in the snow. The StarClan warrior recognizes the first tom as Puddleshine, ShadowClan's medicine cat, and the younger tom as his apprentice, Shadowpaw. The spirit cat notes that they were on their way to the Moonpool for the half-moon meeting.
- They watch the tabby apprentice, showing appreciation of his determination and his anticipation. The StarClan warrior remarks that Shadowpaw will have an important part to play in the coming future of the Clans. The cat continues to watch as the two medicine cats trudge up the moorland slopes until their figures vanish upon the crest of the hill. As the two figures vanish, the spirit cat remarks with satisfaction that Shadowpaw's name would be remembered for as long as the Clans survive.
