Macgyver is a slender,[6] thick-furred,[7] black-and-white tom.[1]

Macgyver is a SkyClan warrior under Leafstar's leadership in the gorge and the lake territories. He was originally a kittypet, but joined SkyClan as a daylight warrior. After SkyClan's exile from the gorge by Darktail, Macgyver chose to follow his Clan and become a full warrior. Because of his loyalty, he was appointed mentor to Dewspring.

A Vision of Shadows[]

Macgyver arrives in the lake territories along with the rest of SkyClan; he helps build their new camp and continues training Dewpaw. After ShadowClan is merged into SkyClan, he takes part in the battle for the stolen kits. However, when Rowanclaw is killed in the battle and Tigerstar revives ShadowClan, Macgyver is wary of them, due to their hostility towards SkyClan. He is enthusiastic about returning to the gorge when Leafstar announces they are leaving, but when they are rescued by Twigbranch's patrol, SkyClan returns to the lake.

At the Mediation Meeting, Bayshine calls to Violetshine to tell Sunbeam about the story of Macgyver and the squirrel.

In SkyClan's Destiny, Macgyver is a new daylight warrior, along with Harveymoon. The two are often scolded for not taking their duties seriously, and on one occasion, are banished from camp until the next full moon. However, they are eager to participate upon their return.
"Look, Parsleyseed. I know all about being a kittypet, and it's not as easy as you think. You only eat when the Twolegs give you food. You only go in and out when the Twolegs say you can. Is that what you really want?"

In Hawkwing's Journey, Macgyver searches for his Clanmates after they are driven from the gorge by Darktail. He insists on following them, being the only daylight warrior to choose SkyClan over their Twolegs. He discovers a campsite near a lake where they settle for two moons, and he defends the territory when SkyClan discusses moving on. When Parsleyseed announces he is becoming a kittypet, Macgyver attempts to dissuade him, citing his own life as a kittypet. After leaving, he becomes sick with fever, but recovers and is given Dewpaw as an apprentice.

  • It was revealed on Vicky's Facebook page that Macgyver was her secret tribute to the television show MacGyver, which she loved to watch.[8]
  • Macgyver is one of the story team's favorite names. When asked about some of the SkyClan daylight warriors keeping their kittypet names, Vicky said, "They had a basic idea of the two-part structure, helped by Firestar and Sandstorm, but most of them already had names from their Twoleg owners. What's more, many of the new SkyClan warriors liked these names. They were used to them and didn't necessarily want to change them. I loved that we could show the stubborn, loyal nature of some of these cats; they didn't hate their kittypet lives, they had great affection for their Twoleg families, and they didn’t see why they should have a completely different name for this other part of their life."[9]
