Marshscar is a heavily-scarred gray[2] tom.[1]
In Code of the Clans, he is an ancient ShadowClan deputy, serving under Ripplestar. At a Gathering, his Clan bursts into Fourtrees and quickly attacks the other Clans without warning. StarClan is enraged by this, and they send lightning and clouds over the sky. The force of the lightning knocks Marshscar's leader, Ripplestar, down from the Great Rock. Marshscar sees this and rushes over, accusing Finchstar, the leader of ThunderClan, to be a murderer, because he was up on the Great Rock at the time Ripplestar fell. He challenges Finchstar to a fight to avenge Ripplestar's death, and then asks who killed Ripplestar if Finchstar had not. The cats at the Gathering decide it was StarClan showing their displeasure about the attack, not Finchstar.
