"There will be many troubles on our path—I do not doubt it. But nothing good comes without a struggle. We must fight for our future."
This article contains major spoilers for the recently released book, StormClan's Folly. Please proceed at your own discretion.
"Stripestar's mouth went dry as he stared, trying to understand what he was looking at. He had never seen such an odd animal. It seemed almost like a stoat. But it was larger, covered in bristling dark hair, and with a long, sinuous neck that swayed like a snake's. Its claws were stubby, large, and vicious, its head blunt and savage, with small dark eyes like wet pebbles and a mouth full of sharp white teeth that gnashed hungrily at the air."
Stripestar's thoughts about the mink in StormClan's Folly, pages 248-249

Minks are medium sized, carnivorous mammals that live near bodies of water.[1]

Description[]

Notice: The following content describes minks from the perspective of the Warriors books. Thus, only some or none of this content may be factual information. For more accurate descriptions of minks, please refer to external sources.
Minks are semiaquatic creatures that live near bodies of water. They resemble stoats but are larger. They have dark, bristling hair, long necks, large stubby claws, blunt heads, small dark eyes, a long, thick tail, large dark paws, tough hides, and sharp white teeth.[1] Minks are quick on their paws, capable of flexing its sinuous body to attack its prey. They make high-pitched shrieks.[1] Their scent marks also leave behind a revolting stench.[2]

Relation to cats[]

«The blow didn't connect. But as Galestar landed, the beast reared back, startled. Its horribly flexible body coiled, and it stomped its claws furiously into the mud, spattering Stripestar with marsh water. It glared suspiciously at the cats, its gaze darting swiftly from one to the other.»
—The mink surprised when Galestar attacks back StormClan's Folly, page 249
Clans rarely encounter minks as demonstrated by StormClan's surprise encounter with one in a marsh. A mink brazenly attacks StormClan's camp, wildly snapping at any cat who nears it. However, it appears surprised when Galestar attacks back. Minks are formidable fighters and capable of killing cats. A mink attempts to drag Mudsplash's body away as its prize until it is defeated by Stripestar and Galestar.[1] Mudsplash later died from his wounds.[3]

Known deaths[]

This is a list of cats, ordered chronologically, who were killed by minks.

StormClan's Folly[]

During StormClan's journey to find a new home, the Clan settles in a stagnant marsh in newleaf after fleeing the abandoned Twoleg nest. However, Galestar wishes to move on after Harewhisker and Mudsplash fall ill with rotten prey, but Stripestar refuses. Two days after the two warriors fall ill, a lone mink viciously attacks StormClan's temporary camp, and Stripestar is shocked by its speed, strength, and ferocity. Stripestar and Galestar attempt to attack the mink to protect their Clammates, though StormClan's hasty retreat leaves Mudsplash and Harewhisker exposed in the medicine den. Noticing an opening, the mink swiftly attacks Mudsplash and attempts to drag him away as prey. Stripestar and Galestar fight it off, and they only manage to kill it by drowning it in the water. Despite their success, Mudsplash dies from his wounds a half moon later. StormClan eventually leaves the swamp after Mudsplash's death.
