When Bristlefrost, Rootspring, Spotfur, and Needleclaw are searching for Pancakes so he can tell them where the Sisters are, Bristlefrost remembers how they had encountered three kittypets, one of which had been a queen close to kitting. She hadn't heard of the Sisters or Pancakes.
When Bristlefrost, Rootspring, Spotfur, and Needleclaw are searching for Pancakes so he can tell them where the Sisters are, Bristlefrost remembers how they had encountered three kittypets, one of which had been a bad-tempered she-cat. She, like the queen, hadn't heard of the Sisters or Pancakes.
Kittypet tom[]
"They had found three plump, pampered kittypets: One had been a queen, close to kitting, another a bad-tempered she-cat. The third was a tom, but he'd smelled different from the toms she knew, and he'd had the narrow forehead of a young 'paw'."
When Bristlefrost, Rootspring, Spotfur, and Needleclaw are searching for Pancakes so he can tell them where the Sisters are, Bristlefrost remembers how they had encountered three kittypets, one of which had been a tom. However, the tom had smelled different, and he'd had a narrow forehead similar to an apprentice's. Like the others, he hadn't heard of the Sisters or Pancakes.
"Sunrise had another littermate besides Tree, called Ice. But she left us to travel with her mate. We miss her, of course, but we're not angry she chose him over us, and if she ever wants to return, we will welcome her without question. You make it sound like loving a tom is betraying your Clan."

When Bristlefrost, Rootspring, and Needleclaw speak to Snow after the Sisters' ceremony. Snow reveals that Ice has left the Sisters to be with her mate after Needleclaw explains to the group that Clancats are forbidden from taking mates outside of their own Clan, comparing it to the Sisters not allowing adult toms to live with their group.
