During her first visit to the Dark Forest, Spottedpaw wonders aloud if she's dead and in StarClan. Beside her, the black-and-white tom tells her that she's not dead. He turns toward Spottedpaw, revealing the disfigured side of his face, startling the apprentice. Spottedpaw asks why she's there, and the tom shrugs, saying Mapleshade brings cats there to train, but Spottedpaw being there was a mistake. He lets out a rasping sound that Spottedpaw realizes is laughter, before turning to watch Thistleclaw and Houndleap fighting in the clearing and ignoring Spottedpaw's comment about StarClan.
The tabby is seen by Spottedpaw in a fight with Thistleclaw. Spottedpaw watches as Thistleclaw easily holds the she-cat down, drawing out the battle by toying with his opponent as if she were prey. Though she thought the cat had fox-colored fur, Spottedpaw realizes the she-cat is actually a light brown tabby, stained red with her own blood from wounds inflicted by Thistleclaw. The tabby struggles under Thistleclaw as he uses his paw to hold her down by her neck as her form flickers, blood and sand seen though her fur. Spottedpaw knocks Thistleclaw off of her and tries to stop the bleeding, but the tabby's wounds are too much, and she fades, leaving a bloodstain in the sand in her place.
Trivia:
On Vicky's Facebook, her name was Fenneldust, and she came from ThunderClan.[2]
