When the Clans go to the island for the first Gathering, the young ShadowClan warrior is seen purring under the bush with Tawnypelt. Squirrelflight notes that she doesn't recognize the young warrior.
Leafpool comes to RiverClan with catmint and meets a patrol the apprentice is on with Mistyfoot and Mosspelt. The ThunderClan cat spots the patrol approaching her from higher ground beyond marshes. She notes that she does not recognize the apprentice. Mistyfoot tells Leafpool she can come with them as they are just on their way back to camp. Leafpool follows the apprentice and their Clanmates, turning inland and padding beside the swift-flowing shallow water until a smaller stream joins on the other side. Leafpool wishes she is as confident in water as the apprentice and their Clanmates are.
Firestar mentions that two ShadowClan cats still lay dead in their camp after the battle with Mudclaw, and Squirrelflight remembers how two fleeing ShadowClan cats had fallen into the clearing and broke their necks.
