"My warriors have been brave, but you have shown courage beyond your calling."
This article contains major spoilers for the recently released book, Star. Please proceed at your own discretion.
"It's true that I'm pleased for you. But I'm confused, too. Our mother seemed so sure that you were meant to be a medicine cat. She went on and on about your dreams...It all seemed so certain. […] That's what's worrying me. Because it was you, Frostpaw, who said StarClan told you Curlfeather was to be our new leader. But if you were never really a medicine cat, if the visions weren't real, then does that mean our mother wasn't destined to be our leader after all? Because if she wasn't, then she didn't have to die."
— Mistpaw to Frostpaw in Shadow, page 92

Mistpool is a tortoiseshell-and-white tabby[5] she-cat.[1]

Mistpool is a RiverClan warrior under Icestar's leadership in the lake territories. She was born under Mistystar's leadership as Mistkit to Jayclaw and Curlfeather alongside her littermates, Graykit and Frostkit. Their father Jayclaw died during their kithood, leaving their mother fiercely protective of her kits. As an apprentice, Mistpaw was mentored by Icewing. However, before she could earn her warrior name, Mistystar and Reedwhisker abruptly died, sending RiverClan into a succession crisis. Mistpaw and Graypaw waited for their warrior names with each new leader. When Splashtail became leader, he named her Mistslime as punishment for her mother's treachery. Following Splashtail's defeat, Mistslime and Graysludge sought refuge in SkyClan and changed their names back to 'paws. When Icestar became leader, she appointed Mistpaw the new name of Mistpool.

History[]

In The Broken Code arc[]

Lost Stars[]

Mistystar mentions at a Gathering that Mistkit has been born to Curlfeather and Jayclaw, along with her siblings Frostkit and Graykit.

In the A Starless Clan arc[]

River[]

«Frostpaw felt a wave of relief. In the crowd, she spotted her littermate, Mistpaw, watching her with sympathetic eyes. Graypaw stood close by. For a moment, Frostpaw wished she could leave Mothwing's side and go cuddle with her littermates, like they had when they were small, before Curlfeather realized she was having visions. Sometimes she wished she could join them in the warriors' den—both to be close to them, and for the chance to watch discussions like these with no responsibility for solving the problems. Sometimes being a medicine cat apprentice was very lonely.»
—Frostpaw's thoughts about her littermates River, page 123
She is now an apprentice named Mistpaw and her mentor is Icewing. Her father Jayclaw had died when she was young, and their mother Curlfeather grew fiercely protective of her kits. Mistpaw and Graypaw wish Frostpaw good luck when she prepares to leave for the Moonpool to officially become Mothwing's apprentice. When Curlfeather is chosen by StarClan to lead RiverClan, Mistpaw and Graypaw nuzzle their mother affectionally. When Curlfeather dies, Mistpaw and Graypaw sneak into the medicine den and comfort Frostpaw. Later, Mistpaw seeks comfort from her mentor.

Sky[]

After Owlnose is chosen as leader, Mothwing encourages Frostpaw to properly grieve for Curlfeather's death, suggesting she should spend time with Mistpaw and Graypaw. Frostpaw declines since her littermates have already had time to grieve. Mistpaw later shares a trout with Graypaw when they notice Frostpaw coming near them to share prey. Later, Frostpaw notes how grown her littermates appear and should be nearly warriors. Graypaw later asks if he and Mistpaw can earn their warrior names soon, and Owlnose replies after he's received his nine lives. During the battle against ShadowClan, Mistpaw and Icewing fight against Tawnypelt and Sunbeam though they are defeated by the ShadowClan warriors. After the fight, Tigerstar orders her and Graypaw to help Cloverfoot hunt.

Shadow[]

"Yeah, because you're going to be such a vital member of the Clan. But now we see how much pressure you're under, trying to find our new leader and dealing with ShadowClan—I'm definitely happier training to be a warrior."
―Mistpaw to Frostpaw Shadow, page 43
A few days after Tigerstar's takeover of ShadowClan, Mistpaw and Graypaw share prey with Frostpaw after a successful training session. The three littermates discuss how odd it is having ShadowClan warriors in their camp. Mistpaw prods Frostpaw about her previous visions, though Frostpaw is certain she interpretted them wrong. She also tells Frostpaw that she was slightly jealous of her important status as a medicine cat apprentice, but Mistpaw now realizes she's happier training to be a warrior. After finishing their prey, Mistpaw and Graypaw clear out the elder's den for Mosspelt. Later, Tigerstar promises Mistpaw and Graypaw that they'll have their warrior assessments as soon as RiverClan's new leader is found.
After Frostpaw decides to train as a warrior apprentice, Mistpaw congratulates her sister's training so far. However, Frostpaw prods her littermate for what's really bothering her, and Mistpaw wonders if Curlfeather's death could've been prevented if Frostpaw's visions were never true. The gray she-cat is hurt by her sister's question and leaves to find her mentor. After a training session, Mistpaw and Graypaw question Frostpaw's decision to train as a warrior, though Frostpaw snaps at them.

Thunder[]

"How long ago was this?"
―Mistpaw about Frostpaw's death Thunder, page 131
When Frostpaw is discussing her attack with Whistlepaw, Frostpaw feels bad for her siblings, Graypaw and Mistpaw, because they had already lost their parents. Later, when Riverstar gives Frostpaw instructions, Frostpaw wants to run home and feels Graypaw and Mistpaw's pelts against her. Later, when Splashtail announces Frostpaw's death, Mistpaw questions how long ago it was. Nightheart suggests to Frostpaw to find a trusted Clanmate and tell them about what she has learned.

Wind[]

"We thought you were dead! We thought we'd never see you again."
―Mistpaw to Frostpaw Wind, page 13
When Frostpaw arrives at the Gathering, Mistpaw and Graypaw excitedly greet their sister. Later, Mothwing tells Frostpaw that Mistpaw and Graypaw might have doubts about Splashtail's leadership. Duskfur confirms this just after a Gathering.

Star[]

Havenpelt: "I hardly recognize [Splashstar] now. I certainly didn't raise him to be cruel. Do you know what he named Mistpaw and Graypaw when he gave them their warrior names? [...] Graysludge and Mistslime. He said they were a traitor's kits."
Nightheart: "Was he talking about Curlfeather?"
Havenpelt: "Yes, he was. He said that her kits needed names that would remind their Clanmates that treachery is never forgiven."
—Havenpelt and Nightheart about Mistpaw's and Graypaw's warrior names Star, page 123
In Splashtail's dream, Mistpaw returns to camp with Harelight and Mallownose after fishing. When RiverClan attacks ShadowClan camp, Mistpaw helps Berryheart fight Scorchfur, cornering him. After the battle, Nightheart is taken as a hostage to RiverClan camp, where he sees Mistpaw eating with Minnowtail and Shimmerpelt. Fognose scolds them for not training, threatening to report them to Splashtail, and Mistpaw starts training. Soon after, Havenpelt informs Nightheart that Splashtail has given Mistpaw and Graypaw their warrior names, Mistslime and Graysludge, as punishment for being Curlfeather's kits. Nightheart acknowledges this while persuading Fognose to turn on Splashtail, saying that it is cruel and that it indicates that Splashtail does not care about his warriors outside of their obedience.
While WindClan is freeing ShadowClan, Heathertail, Brindlewing, and Songleap chase Shimmerpelt and Mistpaw away. While swimming across the river afterward, Frostpaw recalls swimming there with Mistpaw and Graypaw. Mistpaw and Graypaw leave RiverClan to stay with SkyClan, and Sunnypelt, who is helping fix the apprentices' den in RiverClan camp, tells Nightheart that the two have taken their apprentice names again. Beepaw complains about cleaning their nests, to which Sunnypelt retorts that Mistpaw and Graypaw tend to their own. At the Gathering, Nightheart and Sunbeam discuss RiverClan splitting up, with Sunbeam noting that Mistpaw and Graypaw want Leafstar to grant them their warrior names. They then talk about Frostpaw, and Nightheart expresses surprise that her littermates left RiverClan while she is ill.
When Frostpaw wakes up, she sees Mistpaw among the cats around her. Once Icestar returns from the Moonpool, Mistpaw and Graypaw rush out of the apprentices' den to greet her. After appointing Owlnose RiverClan's deputy, Icestar holds Mistpaw and Graypaw's warrior ceremony, naming them Mistpool and Graysky, respectively, and they are welcomed happily by their Clan. As Icestar praises Frostdawn for all she has done, her littermates and Clanmates surround her and cheer for her.
