History

Tallstar's Revenge does not formally appear in The Blazing Star , but is listed in the allegiances.

Yellowfang's Secret

Mudclaw is a warrior of ShadowClan. He is first seen returning from camp with his patrol, consisting of Mousewing, Nettlespot, Deerleap, and Lizardstripe, carrying mice.

Much later, when Red and Boulder come into the camp, he agrees with Frogtail that ShadowClan should tear their pelts off, adding that they have no business there.

He is seen attacking Marmalade with Finchflight when the Twolegplace cats invade the camp looking for Russetpaw and Boulder.

In a battle against rats, he works with Yellowfang and Archeye to fight their way through the rats to a hole in the fence. When the last cat is out, he and Foxheart push the branches of the barrier up against the hole to block the rats inside.

Mudclaw is next seen on hunting patrol with Frogtail, Foxheart, and Raggedpelt when Yellowfang tells Raggedpelt she is becoming a full medicine cat.

Hollyflower mentions Mudclaw when she asks if Lizardstripe's expectant kits are his. After the kits are born, Lizardstripe sarcastically tells Raggedpelt that if she had known toms could have kits, she would have made Mudclaw have the kits of hers himself. He sits with Lizardstripe when his kits and Brokenkit are brought outside for the first time.

Mudclaw is last mentioned by Runningpaw. Runningpaw tells Yellowfang that Mudclaw had told he and his littermates about the Thunderpath before during his first tour of the territory.

In the Field Guide Arc

Secrets of the Clans

Although not making a formal appearance, Mudclaw is mentioned by Lizardstripe, a ShadowClan queen, as her mate. While Lizardstripe, ShadowClan's leader, Raggedstar, and their medicine cat, Yellowfang, discuss the possibility of her raising Raggedstar's son, Brokenkit, Lizardstripe remarks that if toms could have kits, she insults her kits by saying that she would have made Mudclaw have her kits instead. She agrees, but Raggedstar doesn't tell her who the mother of his sole kit is.
